European Investment Fund (EIF) is seeking to recruit for its
Financial Control Division (FC) - Financial Operations Unit at its headquarters in
Luxembourg, several
(Senior/Principal)
Financial Operations Assistant(s).

This is a full time position at grade 2/3 for which the EIF offers a permanent contract.

Purpose:

The Financial Control Division is composed of the four Units:

  • The Financial Operations Unit mainly responsible for settling the transactions;
  • The Financial Accounting Unit mainly responsible of the bookkeeping;
  • The Liquidity Management Unit mainly responsible of managing the liquidity and the treasury portfolios of EIF and the mandates managed by EIF;
  • The Financial Reporting Unit.


As part of the Financial Control Division, the Financial Operations Unit is responsible to settle transactions, to process all payments generated by EIF business lines as well as own EIF expenses and to open and maintain the bank accounts.


Operating Network:


You will work under the guidance and supervision of the Financial Operations Officers and the Head of Financial Operations Unit, who in turn reports to the Head of Financial Control Division.

You will cooperate closely with the members of the team, the Financial Control Division and other EIF services, mainly with Cash Flow Management Division of Operations and Information Management Directorate.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the necessary documentation and make the input in EIF systems for the EIF liquidity management operations (Money Market and FX transactions): deposit instructions, trade confirmations, payment instructions;
  • Prepare the documentation for opening/closing of bank accounts and be in contact with the banks regarding the opening/closing process;
  • Prepare payment instructions related to business activities (private equity, guarantees, microfinance, mandate expenses, liquidity transfers) and to general expenses;
  • Provide efficient backup for the other members of the FO team when necessary;
  • Ensure payment instructions are sent timely to the banks;
  • Establish, organise, and maintain the filing systems for easy access and retrieval of documents and information;
  • Assist the team in meeting deadlines, in preparing and implementing procedures;
  • When required provide assistance to internal and external auditors;
  • Keep internal clients informed of the status of their requests;
  • Contribute occasionally to specific projects of the Unit.

Qualifications:

  • Certified secondarylevel education is a prerequisite. Further studies in a relevant field (accounting, economics, finance, banking, etc) would be a considerable advantage;
  • At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience in a similar role. Previous experience in an international financial organisation or investment fund industry would be an advantage;
  • Good IT skills (standard Office tools). Some experience of PeopleSoft Financials, Business Objects, SWIFT, eFront, Finance Kit, online banking systems would be an asset;
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of another European language would be an advantage.
