PayPal’s Legal Team is looking for an experienced and dynamic attorney to join its Litigation group. In this role, you will work closely with other members of the legal team to manage all aspects of litigation. This position reports to the Sr. Director, Associate General Counsel, Global Head of Litigation. The position will be based in either our London, UK or Luxembourg office.
Job Responsibilities:
- Accountable for performing and managing all litigation activities on assigned matters through the trial and appellate stages, including among other things research, pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, conferences, trials, mediations, arbitrations, and appeals
- Managing an annual litigation budget and expenses
- Recommending key legal and/or litigation strategies and resolutions to senior leadership
- Charged with overseeing internal procedures and standards for document discovery and preparing and reviewing court filings
- Embody utmost collaboration, active listening, and strategic thought
- Take a lead role in setting, recommending, and executing strategies that will ensure PayPal’s interests are represented in the best, most cost‐effective manner
- Manage relationships with outside law firms retained to represent the company and drive alignment on case strategy, budget, and staffing
- Advise legal and business colleagues in an effort to mitigate and manage legal and business risks
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to assist the Litigation team and others in the company to increase efficiency and maximize the use of available resources
- Manage and leverage data to drive decisions on litigation management decisions and to report on litigation and risks facing the company

Job Requirements and Basic Qualifications:
- This is an experienced attorney role requiring a demonstrated proficiency and experience in all aspects of litigation management
- Qualified lawyer in the UK; additional EU qualification is a plus
- Fluent in English and proficiency in German and French is highly desirable
- Deep understanding of the financial services industry
- Embody utmost collaboration, active listening, and strategic thought
- Expertise litigating complex regulatory matters and government investigations and well-suited to navigate and assess litigation risks in a high-stakes and highly-regulated environment
- Strategic thinker who has the ability to develop creative solutions to complex litigation matters
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven analytical, organizational, project management and planning skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Outstanding ability to work with cross-functional teams as well as with senior management
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and the ability to foster and manage relationships across multiple departments
- Extremely proactive with a strong bias for action
- Skilled in focusing on desired results, clarifying next steps, and ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines, address risk and achieve desired results
- An experienced collaborator who is able to bring various constituencies and stakeholders together to complete projects timely and efficiently
- Team player who is comfortable with a dynamic and changing environment that emphasizes collaboration and team performance over management hierarchy
- Skilled oral and written communicator
- Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities under challenging circumstances.
- Familiarity with, and strong interest in, PayPal, mobile payments, emerging payment technology and the payments industry
