The Konschthal Esch is a production and exhibition platform for contemporary visual arts in Esch-sur-Alzette which opened its doors in October 2021.
The project manager will assist the Artistic Director and the Assistant Curator in the coordination, the logístical and technical implementation of the projects, as well as the conservation, maintenance, and general technical management.
The Konschthal contributes within the non-profit association frEsch with its other entities the Bridderhaus and the Bâtiment4, to the implementation of the cultural strategy [connections] of the City of Esch-sur-Alzette.
The** project manager** will be responsible for:
1. Project coordination
- Supervise the administrative implementation of exhibition, event and production projects in relation to the artists and service providers
- Identify and solicit service providers for the needs of artistic productions; evaluate their feasibility and seek technical solutions with the artists, monitor productions
- Participate in the elaboration of the provisional budgets of the projects and in the maintenance of the finances
- Write the specification brief, draw up estimates and manage orders in strict compliance with the budget and ensure the follow-up of services
- Ensure the updating of management tools (budget, planning, brief, supplier directories, facility reports, inventories, etc.) to optimise exhibition productions
2. Logistical and technical implementation of projects
Prepare installation/dismantling schedules, in conjunction with the internal team
Participate in the assembly/disassembly of projects, supervise and coordinate teams and participants
Coordinate and supervise the transport of art works and materials, assist with the handling and the smooth running of transport by drawing up packaging notes
Manage and optimise existing equipment and stocks of materials required for production
3. Conservation and maintenance
- Monitor and maintain exhibitions: maintenance of technical equipment and artwork, monitor the state of conservation
- Carry out and supervise the packing of artworks (crating, organising documentation for inspections)
- Accompany the surveillance officers in their mission (exhibition tour, camera settings, etc.)
- Draft condition reports of the exhibition, complying with preventive conservation and safety standards
4. General technical management
- Assist the technical organisation of events held on the site (openings, conferences, exhibitions)
- Manage stock: equipment, inventory, maintenance, renewal policy
- Design and maintain specific furniture (stands, etc.)
**Profile
- Training in fine arts or in collection management/exhibition mounting
- Significant experience in the implementation of contemporary art projects and exhibitions
- Technical skills (handling, packing, construction, carpentry, audiovisual, etc.)
- Autonomy, sense of responsibility, versatility, adaptability, meticulousness
- Ability to work in a team and manage a team, practical and manual skills
- Job constraints: physical constraints; occasional work on weekends and public holidays
- Fluency in French and English (written and spoken)
- Good command of computer tools
- Driving licence B is essential
