Located in the heart of Europe in a pleasant, dynamic and multicultural environment, The Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL), a public establishment founded by the amended Law of 10 December 1975, under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, is a reference hospital and a centre for diagnosis, care, treatment, hospitalization, research and education.

Our organization is based on a successful multidisciplinary activity and a dynamic professional environment in different areas of hyperspecialization.

The CHL is a learning environment hosting more than 100 doctors in the process of their specialization and students from different European faculties.

The hospital is currently part of a new modelization which includes the development of a new state-of-the-art hospital, opening its doors in 2028.

Following the creation of the Luxembourg Center for Tranlational Research - Fuerschungsklinik Lëtzebuerg, the CHL jointly with the LIH are currently looking to appoint a (M/F/x)

**Director of Luxembourg Center for Translational Research - Fuerschungsklinik Lëtzebuerg**:
**Permanent shared full-time contract CHL - LIH, entry date: immediately.**

Resulting from a collaboration between the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) and the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), the Luxembourg Clinical and Translational Research Centre (LCTR- Fuerschungsklinik Lëtzebuerg) is the first national research infrastructure that brings together clinicians, researchers and patients with the aim of translating research findings into tangible therapeutic and diagnostic solutions.

Co-managed by both the CHL and the LIH, the LCTR Fuerschungsklinik offers all healthcare and research players in Luxembourg a platform to foster technological innovation and translate it into routine clinical practice. It also aims to develop novel personalised medical solutions to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of major chronic diseases - such as cancer, infectious diseases, and immune and neurodegenerative disorders, among others - thereby addressing currently unmet patient needs. The Fuerschungsklinik will work in close cooperation with Hôpitaux Robert Schuman (HRS) and the Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch (CHEM), the Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHdN), the Laboratoire National de Santé (LNS) and the University of Luxembourg (UL).

**Your role**:
As a member of the executive management committee of the LIH and as medical research referent Director at CHL, the Director is responsible for the overarching clinical research activities, the execution of the strategy of the LCTR- Fuerschungsklinik Lëtzebuerg, and the contribution to transversal research initiatives of the LCTR, which entails the following activities:

- Develop and lead Translational Research programmes focused on applied medical research and clinical research, putting the patient at the heart of its activities. Diseases currently in scope of the LCTR- Fuerschungsklinik Lëtzebuerg are Parkinson’s Disease (National Centre of Excellence in Research on Parkinson’s disease - NCER-PD), Cancer (National Centre for Translational Cancer Research in Luxembourg - NCTCR), Autoimmuner diseases (Clinnova) and COVID-19 (e.g. CoVaLux, CON-VINCE, Predi-COVID, etc.), among others.
- Federate administrative and project management support from the Research Unit of the CHL and the LIH in view of implementing the LCTR Translational Research Programmes and projects.
- Ensure the proper functioning of the LCTR : manage the staff assigned by CHL and LIH to LCTR activities and budget and adapt technological means and other resources to the needs of the pluridisciplinary research and clinician teams.
- Foster collaborations among all partners of the LCTR, national hospitals and research institutes seeking to develop their translational projects, in particular for the implementation of large national translational programmes establish national and international clinical research collaboration with public and/or private partners to develop novel personalised medical solutions to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of major chronic diseases.
- Identify and secure private partners from biotech/Pharma in need of clinical research capacity into fee for service contract.
- Link with BD and incubator to retroplan clinical projects from possible value inflection points.
- Support National actors in the design and implementation of collaborative projects with Biotech and start up companies.
- Prepare projects for review selection and advised by a dedicated Translational Selection Committee (TSC).
- Coordinate and guarantee scientific excellence of the clinical research projects performed, by providing scientific advice and guidance to the principal investigators and clinicians.
- Manage and develop internal and external communication of LCTR- Fuerschungsklinik Lëtzebuerg in cooperation with the LIH /CHL communication teams.
