Senior Controller

Our client is a leading global investment management firm, and is currently looking for their new Senior Controller - Private Markets.

You oversee financial reporting and operational aspects of fund management for private markets. This includes managing relationships with fund administrators, ensuring accurate NAV calculations, and supporting forecasting and liquidity planning. You act as a key liaison between internal teams and external providers, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and fund governing documents.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with fund administrators, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of reporting packages, NAV calculations, capital calls, distributions, and investor communications, while safeguarding compliance and service quality.
- Coordinate operational processes across multiple jurisdictions, including activities related to acquisitions, dispositions, and investor flows, to guarantee smooth execution and alignment with fund objectives.
- Review and validate fund-level financial statements, paying particular attention to high-risk and material components such as NAV, management fees, waterfalls, incentive allocations, capital movements, and valuations to ensure transparency and precision.
- Support key fund lifecycle events such as launches, restructurings, and closures, while ensuring strict adherence to governing documents like LPAs and subscription agreements.
- Continuously enhance internal accounting policies and procedures in line with GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant standards, promoting consistency and best practices throughout the organization.
- Provide technical expertise on fund structures, valuation approaches, and NAV methodologies to improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Lead financial and tax due diligence for new investments, define transaction flows, and collaborate closely with tax advisory and compliance teams to ensure proper structuring and documentation.
- Oversee forecasting, budgeting, and scenario analysis at both fund and portfolio levels, delivering insights that support strategic planning and performance monitoring.
- Manage liquidity planning and cash flow forecasting across funds and corporate entities to optimise capital allocation and mitigate financial risks.
- Act as the main point of contact for external auditors, coordinate annual audits, and resolve complex issues to ensure timely completion of audit requirements.
- Work collaboratively with investment, legal, compliance, and investor relations teams to align financial processes with broader organizational goals and strategic priorities.

Your profile:

- Holds a degree in Accounting or Finance, with a CPA or equivalent qualification strongly preferred.
- Brings at least 12 years of progressive experience in accounting, including several years in a senior controller or leadership role within fund accounting.
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of institutional real estate investment structures, such as open-end and closed-end funds, REITs, joint ventures, and operating companies.
- Has a proven track record of managing external service providers and fund administrators effectively.
- Possesses the ability to evaluate materiality and risk to support sound oversight and decision-making processes.
- Shows strong analytical and organizational skills, combined with excellent communication abilities to manage complex priorities across multiple fund structures.
- Displays a proactive mindset and an ownership mentality, with the capacity to anticipate challenges and implement solutions efficiently.
