The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg.

We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine – in the lab, in the clinic and in silico. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and their contributing factors. The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines: computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. Your role

A team member of the LCSB financial controlling and grants team, you will work closely with the research groups, management team and Research Facilitators of the LCSB.

This job includes mainly the following responsibilities:

  • Financial Operations & Support
  • Prepare, verify, and maintain financial figures using Excel, Power BI, and SAP
  • Support financial ad hoc requests and analyses from research groups, management, and external stakeholders
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality control of all financial transactions and reports
  • Collect and analyse income data from external projects to support financial monitoring and reporting

  • Reporting & Analysis

  • Maintain and continuously improve financial reporting tools, cost models, and analytical procedures
  • Co-develop and maintain structured and reliable financial databases to ensure data availability and integrity
  • Collect, interpret, and analyse financial data, providing insights and advice proactively or upon request
  • Provide flexible and timely support for ad hoc reporting, analyses, and projects

  • Planning & Forecasting

  • Coordinate and lead the consolidation of annual budgets and multi-year financial plans across departments and units
  • Maintain financial forecast models, integrating updated assumptions, trends, and strategic objectives
  • Monitor actual versus forecasted performance, analyse variances, and work closely with budget holders to identify and implement corrective actions

  • Systems & Processes

  • Update and maintain the SAP organisational unit structure to ensure accurate financial mapping and reporting
  • Continuously review and improve financial processes, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and alignment with institutional requirements
Your profile
  • University degree in the field of Economics, Business Management, Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in accounting/finance administration in the research context
  • Experience with financial handling of third party funded projects is considered to be a strong asset
  • Analytical skills combined with target orientated thinking and acting
  • Computer literate, very good knowledge in Excel, Power BI, analysis and SAP is required
  • Fluent communication in English and fluent in French (spoken and written); German and/or Luxemburgish would be a strong asset
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills to work in a multicultural environment. Able to involve relevant stakeholders in order to reach your goals (e.g. you will liaise with the financial controllers of all our faculties/centers)
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage a number of requests and situation at one time and able to meet deadlines in a complex and fast changing environment
