Ethics Manager for Research Project

At Uni Systems, we are working towards turning digital visions into reality. We are continuously growing and we are looking for an Ethics Manager to join our UniQue Research and Development team as an external partner for the project augMENTOR which focuses on AI and Education.
**About the project**
The augMENTOR project is a 3-year EU-funded project that aims to develop a novel pedagogical framework that promotes both basic skills and 21st-century competencies by integrating emerging technologies. This framework will be supported by an open-access AI-boosted toolkit that builds on the strengths of big data and learning analytics to provide different types of stakeholders with explainable recommendations for smart search and identification of educational resources, as well as for designing personalized learning profiles that take into account individual actors’ characteristics, needs, and preferences.

For the Ethics Manager position, we expect you to:
- Contribute to developing and monitoring the ethical framework of the project tailored specifically to AI in education, ensuring compliance with EU regulations and ethical guidelines.
- Conduct comprehensive ethical assessments of data usage, and decision-making processes employed within the project.
- Monitor and control project partners on ethical considerations, potential biases, and the responsible use of AI technologies.
- Collaborate closely with project partners to develop guidelines for transparent and accountable AI systems in educational settings.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in AI ethics, education policies, and regulatory frameworks, and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Foster a culture of ethical responsibility by encouraging open dialogue, addressing concerns, and promoting the ethical use of AI across the project.
- Monitor and evaluate the ethical implications of AI in education, identifying potential risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Prepare quarterly reports for project management, highlighting ethical performance, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
- Guide the project team in the drafting of the ethics-related deliverables and review them as needed.
- Communicate and collaborate with the project's external ethics advisory board and be the mediator between the board and the project partners.
- Eligible to deal with demanding ethical dilemmas that may arise, building trust among partners.
- Participate in consortium and ethics meetings and provide guidance on ethics compliance.

We would like you to have:
- An advanced degree in ethics, philosophy, law, or a related field. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Solid understanding of EU ethics regulations and guidelines, as well as experience working with EU-funded projects.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex ethical issues and propose practical solutions.
- Excellent managerial, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing ethical frameworks, policies, and compliance programs.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Team spirit, ability to collaborate and interact with people with diverse backgrounds, and deadline oriented.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence or data privacy is highly desirable.
- The Capability of developing a strategic plan based on ethical requirements and defending his/her opinion in front of reviewers with confidence.
- Act with transparency to all procedures and have a high sense of responsibility.
- Fluency in English is required.
