Researcher in Data Management for Digital History

The Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH) is a research centre for the study, analysis and public dissemination of contemporary history of Luxembourg and Europe with a particular focus on digital methods and tools for doing innovative historical research. It serves as a catalyst for innovative and creative scholarship and new forms of public dissemination and societal engagement with history.

**Your Role...**:
As a researcher you will push the boundaries on research data management and re-use by implementing best practices at scale while conducting genuine research for new approaches to efficient data management. You will collaborate with our partner institutions in Luxembourg and all over the world to establish data flows between archives and historians at the C2DH. We expect you to disseminate the results of your research internally and externally as appropriate. In your day to day work you will further develop our current practices for the creation of data management plans together with the colleagues at the center, you will become a point of reference for the use, creation and exploitation of data sets, you will encourage best practices for data modelling and collection, train researchers in data management and provide guidance on GDPR issues. From a more strategic perspective you will reinforce our strategy for data conservation and long-term accessibility and re-use by developing policies and guidelines.

**What we expect from you**:

- PhD in data science, computer science, information science or related disciplines
- Demonstrated experience in managing data sets and collections
- Required experience includes:

- Experience with (research) data management procedures and processes
- Experience that would be great — or an interest in learning — includes:

- Design and development of APIs to access data repositories
- GDPR and its impact on data collection and storage
- Copyright issues in the context of data storage and preservation
- Passionate about using technology to conduct research
- Willingness to cooperate actively in a team of mixed experience
- An interest in digital humanities, digital archives and preservation
- Ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate methodological, organised, pragmatic and effective approaches to the work
- Good command of English; French is an asset
