The Faculty of Science, Technology, and Medicine (FSTM) brings together expertise in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, and Medicine. With a focus on both education and research, FSTM aims to create, share knowledge, and educate future generations to understand and progress society and environment they inhabit.
The Research Group for Building Energy and Building Services Engineering, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Frank Scholzen, within the Department of Engineering at FSTM, is in search of a Doctoral Researcher (PhD Student) in Engineering Science.
Your Responsibilities...
An exciting PhD opportunity in engineering awaits at the Research Group for Building Energy and Building Services Engineering, overseen by Prof. Dr. Frank Scholzen. The PhD project will delve into issues concerning thermal energy demand and supply for buildings in the context of energy transformation. The research will utilize numerical simulation techniques with the backing of field or lab data and measurement campaigns.
The doctoral candidate will be part of the Doctoral School for Science and Engineering (DSSE) in the Engineering Sciences doctoral program, offering interdisciplinary and globally competitive research training.
Your Duties
- Exploring Energy Efficiency and Heat Supply of Buildings
- Strengthening collaboration with external project partners
- Sharing findings through scientific publications in esteemed journals and conferences
- Contributing to teaching activities (1-2 hours per week of courses or similar supervision workload)
Our Requirements...
- Master's degree in Engineering (Energy, Mechanical, Civil, or related field)
- Solid foundation in Technical Building Services and Building Energy matters
- Language proficiency: Advanced English; knowledge of German or French is a plus
