The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of

Your Role

Foreseen research:
Research Fund for Coal and Steel RFCS project Connect4C
The ArcelorMittal Chair of Steel construction research in the development of high-strength steel connections for circular construction.
The foreseen research project has as its main objective the development of solutions for demountable/reusable steel structures using advanced steel grades.
The project deals with the investigation of steel connections and their respective failure behaviour. The different influencing parameters have to be investigated. Experimental works in the laboratory as well as numerical simulation analyses with the help of scientific computational finite element programs (e.g. ABAQUS) have to be conducted.What we expect from you:
- Diploma or Master's degree in Civil Structural Engineering, Mechanics or an equivalent degree in engineering
- Willingness to enrol as PhDstudent at UL
- Basic competence in laboratory and analytical work is necessary
- Knowledge of nonlinear FE Analysis is mandatory
- Language: English. In addition, German and/or French knowledge is considered as an advantage.
