Your Role...
The PhD student (doctoral researcher) will work under the guidance of a professor on a research theme and will also contribute to education in a certain extent.
She/he should finish the work with a doctoral degree in engineering science.Foreseen research
RegainSteel project:
The project is through the ArcelorMittal Chair of Steel Construction, under the collaboration between the University of Luxembourg and ArcelorMittal.
- and nondestructive steel material test and measurement methods. These procedures will allow for determining the steel properties for reuse in a new construction. Besides metallurgical and experimental work in the laboratory and on-site, the use of Artificial Intelligence will help to optimize the process and make more feasible use of nondestructive measurements.
What we expect from you
- Diploma or Master's degree in Civil Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- A deepened knowledge in steel structural analysis as well as basic metallurgical knowledge
- A finished education in Welding Engineering or an equivalent degree would be beneficial
- Open mind to the Artificial Intelligence tools
- Willingness for laboratory and analytical work is necessary
- Willingness to enroll as PhDstudent at UL
- Language: English at B2 level, additional German or French is seen as an asset
