Risk is an inherent part of JPMorgan Chase's business activities and the firm's overall risk tolerance is established in the context of the firm's earnings power, capital, and diversified business model.

The firm's risk management framework and governance structure are intended to provide comprehensive controls and ongoing management of the major risks inherent in its business activities.

It is also intended to create a culture of risk awareness and personal responsibility throughout the firm. The firm's ability to properly identify, measure, monitor, and report risk is critical to both its soundness and profitability.

JPMorgan Chase believes in a holistic approach to risk analysis by incorporating key risk disciplines including Credit, Market, Principal, Liquidity, Operational, Model, Legal, Fiduciary and Reputation and weighing these against returns.


As Legal Entity Risk Manager you will provide an independent risk oversight of the business activities and ensure that the business is appropriately implementing risk-related regulatory obligations.

The role reports into the Chief Risk Officer of the EMEA Private Bank and is a part of the global Wealth Management Investment Risk & Analytics (IR&A) team that performs investment risk oversight of the wealth management businesses across the Private Bank and Consumer Bank.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of the current and emerging risks that impact Global Shares.
  • Oversee Global Shares' compliance with the current and prospective European Risk Management regulations
  • Engage with the business stakeholders to provide insights into the risks affecting the business, promote risk awareness and strong risk culture
  • Partner with support functions including Operational Risk, Compliance and Controls both in AWM and Commercial Investment Bank (CIB) to review internal and external risks that affect the business including risks to assets, reputation and data.
  • Represent the Risk function in the management and governance forums, regulatory engagements and audits
  • Monitor internal and external environment for any changes that may materially affect the risk appetite or risk tolerance of the firm. Communicate these changes to the risk committee and the board.
  • Enhance risk management controls and systems
  • Engage in the strategic planning process for the business and ensure that risk dimensions are well considered in strategic decision making

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance or related fields
  • At least 7 years' experience in Financial Services
  • Partner effectively with others to accomplish mutual goals
  • Use your knowledge and experience to problem solve and create workable solutions

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Intellectually curious, willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A good understanding of Private Banking and European Banking Regulations is a plus
