The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of
Mathematics,
Physics,
Engineering,
Computer Science,
Life Sciences and
Medicine. Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens, in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in.
Potential areas of your future research could include - but are not limited to - ageing and degradation of concrete structures, novel techniques for finite strain elasto-plasticity of continua, advanced models and discretisation strategies for shell structures.
Depending on your background and PhD research specialisation you will be trained in the programme _Data and Computational Sciences_ or the programme _Engineering Sciences_ of the faculty's doctoral school.
Your Role
:
- Manage and drive forward your PhD research project
- Attend doctoral school courses, trainings and events
- Disseminate your results at conferences and seminars
- Author scientific articles and your PhD thesis
- Contribute to teaching, supervision of student projects
What we expect from you:
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering / Computational Mechanics
- Profound knowledge of engineering mechanics, structural analysis & finite element methods
- Familiar with Python programming, TeXbased documentation and associated software environments;
- Good English language skills (minimum certified B2 level, C1 level is a plus)
- Willingness to work in a multilingual and international environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
