Job Description:
Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) is a leading UK based financial services group providing a wide range of banking and financial services, passionate about personal and commercial customers.
Services are offered through well-recognized brands including Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, and Scottish Widows, and a range of distribution channels.
The company sells products through independent financial advisers, direct to customers and through LBG bank branches. Scottish Widows employs around 3,000 people.
To ensure continuity of servicing of its existing EU business after the UK's exit from the EU, Scottish Widows established Scottish Widows Europe, as a fully-owned subsidiary in Luxembourg, authorized to conduct run-off insurance business in Europe ("SWE").
The portfolio of SWE is largely represented by with profit policies originally sold through the Clerical Medical Brand but also include unit-linked policies.
Since March 2019, the business is handled from Luxembourg, through branches in Germany and Italy and with outsourcers in Germany, Italy & Luxembourg providing customer and policyholder administration.

As "CDPO", reporting into the SWE Chief Risk Officer, you'll be responsible for the delivery of a broad range of high quality support to SWE in the area of prudential and conduct compliance (including anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing) and data protection.
We welcome diverse views and experience and you'll be expected - with the support of specialists from UK teams - to ensure SWE complies on a continuous basis with all legal, regulatory and mandatory requirements, as well as CAA expectations.
Your Accountabilities:
You'll
- Be the overall owner of the management of
- the Data Protection Officer Function
- Contribute to the development of a culture that
- meets and exceeds our goals for treating customers fairly
- facilitates the delivery of customer, shareholder and colleague objectives
- Have a guaranteed direct access to SWE CEO and to all SWE Management Committee and Board Members to ensure your independence in performing your functions
- Report into the SWE CRO and assist them in:
- Developing, improving, and enhancing the governance system and the Risk Management Framework ("RMF") of SWE
- The accomplishment of ensuring the daytoday compliance of SWE with the relevant applicable laws, regulatory and statutory obligations as well as CAA's expectations and requirements
- Implement, maintain and monitor compliance with (among others):
- LBG and SWE compliance policies, providing advice and guidance, particularly around SWE's activities in its own and other jurisdictions but also more widely across the Insurance, Pensions and Investments Division of LBG ("IP&I")
- Personal Data risk management framework across SWE and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other related regulations
- Monitor SWE's compliance with legalregulatory and prudential requirements
- Report to SWE MC and Board on all compliance issues identified, recommending solutions and associated implementation schedules
- Assist management in the design of remedial actions, and supervise their effective implementation, in collaboration with the Company's CRO, while
- promote the optimum / efficient use of Group resources
- Where necessary, liaise with and notify competent authorities regarding compliance, AML/CTF and data protection issues, enable the Board and Management members to discharge their duties.
About you:
- Good understanding of the economics and functioning of Luxembourg life insurance undertakings.
- Strong knowledge of:
- European and Luxembourg insurance legal and regulatory frameworks (more specifically in Compliance, AML/CTF and Data Protection / GDPR areas)
- Solvency II requirements (more specifically, proficiency in its second Pillar and the overall governance requirements)
