Context The role sits within the IT production department of a banking institution. It covers strategic, cross-functional projects tied to the transformation of the bank and its IT. The position offers the opportunity to build expertise in cloud computing, distributed infrastructure and data, working alongside multidisciplinary teams spread across several entities of an international group. Responsibilities The DBA designs, manages and administers database management systems, ensuring data consistency, quality, security and continuous availability. Database design
• Define database standards and good practices for development teams, together with the architects
• Make implementation choices in line with the specifications, in coordination with project stakeholders
• Set optimal database parameters
• Define physical and logical data security rules and database usage standards Administration and operational maintenance
• Ensure data availability and quality
• Define access rights and address data security issues
• Implement backup mechanisms to guarantee data integrity
• Deliver new database versions to development and application support teams
• Handle version upgrades, obsolescence and patching
• Set up monitoring and alerting (availability and capacity management)
• Keep documentation on database structures and operating procedures up to date Technical support
• Support developers and application support teams
• Handle incidents affecting database performance or data access Technology watch and continuous improvement
• Monitor technology trends to keep databases aligned with business needs
• Assess and deploy solutions that simplify, automate or reduce the cost of databases Automation and tooling
• Automate recurring tasks: installation, updates, extension, cloning, anonymisation, decommissioning
• Provide APIs enabling development and support teams to perform routine requests and database lifecycle tasks themselves
• Implement database performance visualisation tools Candidate profile Education and experience
• Engineering degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s level)
• At least 3 years of professional experience in the field Required technical skills
• Oracle (advanced)
• SQL, especially PL/SQL (advanced)
• At least one of: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB
• Python, Shell, YAML
• Ansible, Ansible Tower, Git, Jenkins (CI/CD), Terraform
• ELK, Sysdig, LogDNA
• ServiceNow Nice to have
• Teradata
• T-SQL
• Knowledge of how a large banking group is organised Business knowledge
