As the Risk and Governance Program Manager for BBH Luxembourg (BBHL) you will be a senior member of the Luxembourg management team. You will be accountable to the Authorized Management of BBH for the risk and governance programs impacting BBHL, and support BBHL’s regulatory obligations in the Lux market, ensuring an outstanding business environment, with reduced risk and improved efficiency. You will coordinate with the Risk and Control functions as well the different LOBs represented in the BBH Luxembourg office and drive the establishment of processes, documentation and controls to manage regulatory risks for the entity. In this role you will chair and lead committees of cross functional colleagues to ensure alignment on regulatory and risk requirements.
The role reports into the BBH Luxembourg Managing Director and Office Head
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Hold accountability to the Authorized Management at BBH Lux, for all Governance, Risk and Control matter across the location
- Implement a strategic control and governance framework that requires high level of insights that must be used proactively to identify potential risk and gaps
- Partner with Office of the General Counsel, Internal Audit, Compliance, Risk Management, business leaders and other control areas to identify, assess and mitigate the risks inherent in the business by ensuring a balance between commercial objectives and the risk profile established by BBH senior management
- Chair and lead necessary committees of cross-functional colleagues to ensure alignment on risk, governance and regulatory obligations
- Serves as primary escalation resource within the local business lines and across the various control functions such as risk, audit, compliance. This position provides senior management and the Supervising Partner of the location with ongoing communication related to the statuses of key risk and governance initiatives and projects
- Maintain and enhance current Luxembourg Outsourcing Oversight Committee, its management reporting and input across all stakeholders
- Understand current regulation, closely follow continuous regulatory developments related to Outsourcing and prepare BBH Lux and the broader BBH organization to adhere to the regulatory Outsourcing framework
- Ensure proper representation from BBHers in the relevant industry working groups, incl. ALFI, ABBL, LPEA, ILA, and establish feedback loop on the relevant topics to/from the relevant BBH departments
Key requirements:
- Strong business acumen (knowledge of Lux fund market and security operations, asset management, depositary and fund administration functions, external laws and regulations, as well as internal policy and compliance guidelines)
- Proven analytical experience, including the ability to systematically manage a pipeline of complex regulatory initiatives and execute accordingly
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Ability to marshal resources to get things done in a global organization (people, support, funding)
- Strong collaboration skills - able to gain trust, support and buy-in from colleagues to implement change recommendations.
- Strategic agility - can see ahead, anticipate future consequences and trends, articulate a credible vision of the possibilities, has broad perspective.
