The **Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB)** is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg. We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine - in the lab, in the clinic and _in silico_. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease and their contributing factors.
The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines: computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. **Your Role...**:
Your main tasks will consist of:
- develop scripts (in Python, Ruby, Liquid, Julia, or other) to improve existing resources and processes
- integrate existing tools into an overall quality-assurance pipeline
- add and improve content of documentation resources
- automate processes using CI/CD
- fix bugs identified by software developers and/or users
- work closely with other team members on developing essential resources
- propose creative and practical solutions to simplify and automate processes
- prepare documents for training and/or reporting on an as-needed basis
- write and maintain formal documentation for technical procedures
**What we expect from you**:
- Minimum a Master’s degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, data science, or another field but with equivalent and proven experience
- Strong and demonstrable computer programming skills are a requirement, additionally skills in Python are an advantage
- Experience of the source code control process using tools (e.g., git), DevOps, or Continuous Integration / Deployment is an advantage
- Experience with production-level software projects (any domain) including unit testing and using agile software development methodologies are a strong advantage
- Proficiency in UNIX / Linux is highly desired
- Demonstrable successful delivery of projects
- Knowledge of using the shell (any OS) is desirable
- Solid knowledge of one (scientific) programming language (Python, R, C++, Julia) is a strong advantage
- Other programming/scripting languages, such as Matlab, Octave are considered an asset
- Ability to communicate effectively. Fluency in English is required. Any other language is considered an asset
- Ability to articulate clearly technical needs within an interdisciplinary setting
- No prior knowledge of the biomedical research required, but a willingness to work as part of an interdisciplinary team is essential
- Reproducibility attitude, a mind of transparency, and a belief in the value of sharing and reusability of assets
- Ability to handle multiple assignments at one time while working independently and effectively under deadlines
- An enthusiastic and motivated team player
- Willingness to learn and ability to adapt
