The **EIB**, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Operations Directorate (OPS) - Central and South East Europe Department (CSEE) - Corporates Division (2 - CORP), at its headquarters in Luxembourg, an **(Associate) Banker *.**

**This is a full-time position at grade 4/5 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.**

**Purpose**:
You will work alongside more senior Loan Officers to support the identification, appraisal, negotiation and monitoring of corporate lending operations across the geographic area covered by the CSEE Department according to EIB goals, policies and procedures.

**Operating Network**:
You will report to the Head of Division and cooperate closely with colleagues in the Division. You will establish effective working relationships with colleagues in other Directorates and maintain a network with counterparts, as well as other stakeholders.

**Accountabilities**:

- Research and monitor CSEE corporate lending market
- Support relationships with clients and other stakeholders
- Work with potential clients to identify projects eligible for EIB financing and develop financing structures in line with EIB Risk and Policy Guidelines
- Support the appraisal process and cooperation with other functions in the Bank to establish creditworthiness of the Borrower/Guarantor and the financial, economic and technical viability of the project
- Draft term sheets, financial reports, lending proposals and approval documents and facilitate approval by appropriate hierarchies
- Support and coordinate the negotiation process with borrowers, external legal advisors and internal counterparts
- Ensure a regular review of the financial position of counterparts/projects and contractual compliance

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the financial sector, preferably in corporate finance.
- Expertise in financial analysis and credit risk assessment.
- Good knowledge of Excel and experience from financial modelling.
- Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good command of the other.
- Knowledge of languages spoken in the CSEE region may be considered an advantage.

As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of _level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
