Director of Tax Compliance

Job Description Summary: PayPal is seeking an experienced global tax compliance-focused professional to establish and lead its new virtual Global Indirect Tax (VAT/GST) and Foreign Direct Tax Center of Excellence (“COE”). As the Director of the COE you will be responsible for its setup and management with a global portfolio of compliance obligations across all regions. You will be the process owner for Global VAT/GST initially, with Foreign Direct Tax compliance added subsequently. It will also be required that you manage compliance activities outsourced / cosourced to various external providers.

**Job Description**:
**Key responsibilities will include**:

- Act as single point of contact for the VAT/GST and Foreign Direct Tax COE and report to the Global Head of Indirect Tax.
- Set up, lead and coach the COE team.
- Develop a training program, provide career development, recruitment, etc. for the team.
- Support and execute the implementation of an effective tax control framework.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, manage financials, reconciliations, and coordinate compliance activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of all compliance filings.
- Continuously improve compliance processes resulting in further standardization across jurisdictions and regions; facilitate centralization, and design new processes.
- Evaluate, recommend and support technology automation, data analytics and dashboarding.
- Manage audit requests and tax authority inquires.
- Create and implement Standard Operating Procedures; monitor global metrics and review progress against operational targets.
- Report service performance and escalation status; develop corrective action plans.
- Monitor new tax compliance requirements and support set up and implementation in close collaboration with the Tax planning team.
- Manage relationships with PayPal’s Corporate Tax, Controllership, Accounting and other relevant teams as well as external providers.
- Provide regular operational updates to key stakeholders.

**To qualify for the role, you must have**:

- Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional tax compliance experience, either in industry or with a service provider.
- Extensive experience managing and motivating a global team.
- Basic understanding of other compliance activities such as statutory accounting and corporate tax compliance.
- Good understanding of IT systems and VAT/GST reporting solutions.
- Fluent in English - written and spoken. Any additional language is an asset.
- Excellent communication across cultures and within a virtual working environment.

Actual Compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to work location, and relevant skills and experience.

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $118700 to $246290
