Logistics Operations Manager East

Key Purpose:

- To manage all day to day logistics operations for the east geographical area. Including McBride, 3PL Warehouses and Hauliers. To support the Regional Logistics Manager in developing and implementing the regional logistics strategy in line with overall corporate strategy.
- To be the main point of contact and escalation for all logistics operations in the region.
- To ensure that the logistics network operates at an optimum level of efficiency and effectiveness whilst meeting the agreed performance levels and adhering to agreed budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage warehouse(s) and distribution centre(s) operations owned by McBride, to include support of the RLM in monitoring and optimisation of stock levels
- Manage contract and day-to-day interactions with third-party suppliers for warehousing and transport in the region; Support RLM in negotiations and contract agreement for all Logistics service providers
- To be the main operational point of contact and escalation with Transplace in delivering effective and efficient Logistics operations
- To work on site at operational locations in the region - prioritising presence on sites based on scale, complexity or exceptional issues
- To plan and execute periodic stocktakes with 3PL partners, on site as and when required.
- Support the RLM in asset and resource utilisation and executing measures to improve cost effectiveness of the logistics operations in terms of warehouse footprint and transport solutions in line with group strategy.
- Work with the RLM to evaluate and execute opportunities for the use of alternative service networks that improve efficiency and/or effectiveness of the operation and/or meet future customer needs
- Ensure the regional logistics organisation meets agreed service performance and cost targets to both customers and the business divisions; Fully own the execution of performance standards and stretch targets across the component activities in Logistics
- Working with the RLM and divisional teams to input to annual budget and quarterly forecasts, monitor overhead spending in the region for adherence to budget and forecast, determine root causes of variances and underlying trends and track delivery of corrective actions
- Attend and participate in all logistics partner period reviews, deputising for the RLM where time conflicts stretch the team
- Motivate, guide and counsel Warehouse & Distribution teams as a collaborative community and in collaboration with the Divisional leadership teams, to ensure targets are met, specific project plans are implemented, and resource issues are addressed
- Deliver change effectively and efficiently, as the operational lead for the region in conjunction with PMO and the RLM

Technical Competencies & Qualifications:

- Degree or equivalent in Logistics and/or Business Management or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Fluent in German with a good standard of English, other languages including Polish would also be a strong asset
- 5+ years progressive management level operational experience
- Worked in a Regional or Multi Site role with experience in both warehouse and transport operations ( in - house and 3PL preferred)
- Demonstrable track record and skills/experience gained within a similar position(s) at a similar level
- Hands On experience of utilising software for Logistics - e.g. SAP, TMS, WMS. Also OPUS, CLASS, Paragon etc Modelling/Simulation tools beneficial
- Proven ability to transform operating performance in terms of service and cost through influence alone, built on prior experience of achievement through line management authority.
