Resilience & Continuity Officer
Organisational Context:
With its “Making the Difference” strategy, ING addresses significant changes impacting the banking industry; from changing customer expectations to FinTechs, regulatory requirements and digitalization. ING’s future aim is to be the next generation digital bank, offering a single digital platform or “ecosystem” where customers can find solutions to all of their financial and finance-related needs. This platform will provide a customer experience that is clear, convenient and consistent across borders, and will be open to selected third-party products and services.
To enable execution of the Making the Difference strategy, ING has setup an Operational Design, Control and Resilience (ODCR) department which is a team that works closely with CEO/COO as well as representatives from different stakeholders across the Bank. Within ING Luxembourg this activity is performed by Safe Business Office (SBO).
Within SBO, the new activity Resilience & Continuity will focus on realizing the specific external requirements around Operational Resilience.
Role context:
The ongoing regulatory demands in the financial services industry mean ING must increase its efforts to ensure a compliant and future-proof organisation which delivers safe and secure processes, resilient enough to withstand the challenges ahead. While ING has been doing a lot in the field of Operational Resilience (ORS) over the past few years and many building blocks are in place (with potential areas for maturing) there is no e2e oversight and understanding of the ORS-capabilities as they are currently running in silos and are scattered with different maturity levels. Therefore, one integrated concept but also a supporting organization to deal with it is mandatory. The objective of the Resilience & Continuity Officer is to contribute to a successful delivery of ING's Operational Resilience strategy, by bridging the gap between design and execution whilst keeping our bank safe, secure and compliant.
Your role and work environment
As part of Safe Business Office, the team Resilience & Continuity is pivotal for our success. You report to Head of Safe Business Office and you will be responsible for:
- The bank’s compliance with operational resilience regulatory requirements;
- Defining, implementing operational resilience strategy, focusing on Global Business continuity management, Global Crisis management, Global Incident Management, and Resolution;
- Steering and maintaining on resilience ambitions;
- Oversight on Operational Resilience requirements and status;
- Clear instruction and information of the operational resilience strategy and framework on bank level;
- Operational Resilience policy champion (and future Control Standard owner) and BCM policy champion and Control Standard owner.
- Working closely together with the global resilience and continuity team and the resilience and continuity officers across ING countries.
We are looking for:
- Hands-on professional with a strong ‘can do’ mentality, highly resilient and able to navigate through ambiguity;
- You are highly organisational sensitive and capable of creating buy-in and engagement at all levels of the organisation.
- You love to challenge the status quo and are eager to propose creative solutions to problems.
- Organisational sensitivity; deep understanding of the underlying issues, opportunities and dynamics of the organisation; strong focus on collaboration;
- You have the ability to take responsibility and make impact based on facts and data;
- You love to be part of and contribute to a high performing team.
- Strong coordination and program management skills for running multiple initiatives requiring global resources in multiple locations and overlapping in time (incl. project control, scheduling, stakeholder management, benefit assessment and tracking)
- Outstanding customer focus, understanding external customer needs and addressing internal customer requirements
- You have strong analytical capabilities, quantitative insights and problem solving skills.
- You have a strong focus on delivery through collaboration and the ability to bring people together to work towards the same purpose.
- Strong delivery capability, with a proven track record and credibility in achieving results
- Able to work with diverse stakeholders at different levels of seniority
- Strong negotiation skills to contribute to global transformational programs
- Strong prioritization and planning skills; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; and ability to think out new solutions (“outside of the box”)
- Strong willingness and ambition to drive process and cultural change
Proven track record and skills:
- University / Post Graduate (Masters Degree)
- Knowledge about the value chain: process, locations, (target) systems, community, risk items, etc.
- 10 years professional experience in banking/ business consultancy/ risk & control /
