Our client is a global industrial company, with an outstanding reputation in its sector.
In order to reinforce their team, we are currently looking for a Patent Attorney Director, who will report to the European Head of Legal.
Your role will involve managing the complete life cycle of our client's patents, from idea generation to protection, exploitation, and growth. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of strategic plans, policies, and procedures for their IP department.
**Responsibilities**:
Oversee the global patent prosecution process, focusing on their core competencies in materials science and engineered products.
Lead anti-counterfeiting efforts related to patents and trademarks.
Foster strong collaborations with their innovation, engineering, and product line management teams to provide counsel throughout the product development journey.
Review and provide guidance on statements of invention from their engineers and scientists.
Develop, implement, and enforce an effective patent protection program, including corporate-wide training.
Draft legal opinions such as freedom-to-operate and validity/invalidity opinions.
Manage trade secret protection measures, including drafting NDAs, conducting employee training, and exit interviews.
Stay updated on industry legal and business developments and advise on their impact on their intellectual property.
**Qualifications**:
Technical/engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, physics, or a related field.
Passed a Patent Examination, UPC Certificate, or similar qualifications as a European Patent Attorney.
Practical engineering experience in industrial manufacturing, mechanical/electrical, and/or materials engineering.
Ability to balance business opportunities and legal risks effectively.
Excellent client counseling and communication skills, fostering trust and collaboration.
Strong analytical skills and legal creativity to provide practical solutions for complex transactions and issues.
Experience coordinating and leading work groups and project teams.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with regional and executive leadership.
Strong prioritization skills and ability to deliver results with limited resources.
Fluency in English.
