The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its **Legal Directorate (JU) - EU Operations Department (OPS EU) - Project Financing Transversal Centre of Expertise Division (PF)**, at its headquarters in Luxembourg**:TRAINEE**

**_ Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1_**_st_**_ March/April 2025)_**

**_ (With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)_**

**Objective of the traineeship**:
You will get some exposure to and experience on how a European institution works, on how project finance transactions are structured and on Environmental, Social and Governance developments, to enhance your research skills and to acquire the necessary background for a possible future career in project finance. The Division is in charge of reviewing, drafting, negotiating and signing the project finance agreements (facility agreements, security package, intercreditor agreements) under the transactions to be financed by the EIB in the EU and outside the EU. You will support the lead lawyer on reviewing, negotiating, drafting and signing such transactions as per business needs.

**Responsibilities**:
Under the supervision of the Head of Division or of another experienced lawyer, your main responsibilities will be:

- Carry out legal research in relation to the new developments of project finance in the relevant jurisdictions covered by the division;
- Get familiar with the EIB Finance Contract and legal aspects of the EIB operations particularly in line with environmental and social considerations and with EIB procedures and legal issues;
- Review available in-house precedent documents (in English or in a language you have knowledge of) and collect and classify internal know-how and 'tacit' knowledge;
- Compile standard form documentation, checklists, perform legal process analysis;
- Conduct research (whenever necessary), both with respect to internal processes and procedures, as well as certain matters of law typically found in project finance transactions or in which you have already some knowledge or in areas that you want to develop;
- Translate legal documents.

**Academic qualifications and professional skills**:

- University master’s degree in law (ideally with a focus on finance or business law) is required
- Good analytical skills and comparative legal skills.
- Interest in banking law matters, project finance and environmental and social guidelines. Some previous exposure and experience in such area would be an advantage.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU language would be an advantage.
