ABOUT THE LABORATOIRE NATIONAL DE SANTÉThe National Health Laboratory (LNS) is overseen by the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. LNS is a diverse institution with four scientific departments specializing in Medical Biology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, and Health Protection. It also includes the National Center of Pathology and the National Center of Genetics. Employing over 400 individuals from more than 20 countries, LNS has been located in Dudelange since 2013.The primary goal of LNS is to enhance expertise in disease prevention, diagnosis, and monitoring while serving as a national reference laboratory. Furthermore, the institution focuses on research, teaching, and collaboration with local and international partners to advance laboratory methods.Equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, LNS is committed to innovative projects that advance public health knowledge.ABOUT THE NATIONAL CENTER OF GENETICSThe National Center of Genetics (NCG) at LNS comprises approximately 45 employees distributed across three services:
  • Clinical Genetics Service
  • Cytogenetics & Hemato-Oncogenetics Service
  • Molecular Genetics Service
NCG is responsible for all genetic testing and counseling in Luxembourg, including advanced technologies like next-generation sequencing.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establish and execute a long-term vision and strategy for the National Center of Genetics.
  • Foster relationships with other departments to enhance collaboration and efficiency.
  • Lead and supervise a team of 45 employees.
  • Ensure daily operations, budget management, and quality accreditation.
  • Develop strong partnerships with stakeholders and ministries.
  • Drive research initiatives and scientific projects.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCESThe ideal candidate is an MD or MD/PhD with board certification in genetics or related fields and extensive experience in clinical genetics. Leadership experience, particularly in genomic medicine, is essential.
