ABOUT LNS
The 'Laboratoire National de Santé' (LNS) is a public institution supervised by the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. It comprises four scientific departments specializing in medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine, and health protection. Additionally, the LNS is home to the National Center of Pathology and the National Center of Genetics, located in Dudelange since 2013.
The LNS's mission involves developing analytical and scientific expertise related to disease prevention, diagnosis, and monitoring. It serves as a national reference laboratory, conducts forensic tasks, and collaborates with local and international analytical laboratories to promote technical methods. The institution also engages in research and educational activities locally and abroad.
Equipped with modern infrastructure and a focus on innovation, the LNS is dedicated to advancing public health.
ABOUT NATIONAL CENTER OF GENETICS
The National Center of Genetics (NCG) at LNS has around 45 employees and is structured into three services:
- Clinical Genetics Service
- Hemato-Oncogentics-Cytogenetics Service
- Molecular Genetics Service
The Hematooncogenetics and Cytogenetics team specializes in diagnosing chromosomal aberrations in both constitutional conditions and acquired neoplasms.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team. Your role in the Hematooncogenetics-Cytogenetics service will involve:
- Sterile work with primary cell cultures
- Preparation of chromosome preparations from various tissues
- Conducting Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)
- Participating in the development of new molecular genetic diagnostic procedures
- Rotational duties, including public holidays and Saturdays
- Sampling, documentation, and quality management support
- Device management
YOUR PROFILE:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or genetics
- Authorization to practice in Luxembourg ('Laborantin' or 'ATM de Laboratoire')
- Interest in human genetics and learning new analytical methods
- Experience in cancer cytogenetics or conventional cytogenetics is advantageous
- Knowledge of quality management and ISO15189 is a plus
- Proficiency in MS-Office, Excel, LIMS, and bioinformatic tools
- Team player with resilience, flexibility, and commitment
- Advanced proficiency in English; knowledge of German or French is beneficial
