ABOUT LNS

The Laboratoire National de Santé (LNS) is a public institution supervised by the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. It consists of four scientific departments covering medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine, and health protection. The LNS is also home to the National Center of Pathology and the National Center of Genetics, located in Dudelange since 2013.

The LNS's mission focuses on developing expertise in disease prevention, diagnosis, monitoring, and acting as a national reference laboratory. Additionally, it plays a vital role in promoting laboratory methods and conducting research activities nationally and internationally.

Equipped with modern infrastructure, the LNS spearheads innovative projects enhancing public health expertise.

ABOUT NATIONAL CENTER OF GENETICS

The National Center of Genetics (NCG) at the LNS comprises three services:

• Clinical Genetics Service
• Hemato-Oncogenetics-Cytogenetics Service
• Molecular Genetics Service

The Hemato-Oncogenetics and Cytogenetics team specializes in the diagnosis of chromosomal aberrations in patients with hematological neoplasia.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are looking for a skilled cytogeneticist to join our dynamic team in the Hematooncogenetics-Cytogenetics service. Here are the tasks waiting for you:

• Supervise and manage a team of laboratory technicians and scientists in cytogenetics.
• Direct daily operations of the cytogenetic laboratory.
• Develop, validate, and implement new procedures and techniques.
• Interpret and communicate genetic results to healthcare professionals.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in the field.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
• Participate in training activities and translational research within the Center.
• Collaborate with other NCG services and external partners to offer comprehensive patient care.
• Represent the NCG at internal/external meetings, conferences, and national health programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Medical Doctor certified in medical genetics/cytogenetics, or equivalent.
• Eligible to practice as a doctor in Luxembourg (Mandatory).
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a cytogenetics laboratory.
• Proficiency in molecular cytogenetic techniques like Karyotyping and FISH.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Capable of working independently and handling multiple projects.
• Experience in an accredited medical laboratory.
• Proficient in IT, including laboratory IT systems (LIMS).
• Advanced English skills required; knowledge of German or French is advantageous.
