Hays Luxembourg is looking for a Back-Up Engineer for a client located in Cloche d'Or. They are specialised in new technologies and help clients with transformation digital and Cloud implementation.

It is a 1-year contract and you can start as soon as possible.

Description
  • In this role, you will be responsible of the whole backup infrastructure, you will have to challenge the current infrastructure versus the needs of our customers in a continuous improvement way.
  • You will be working in a technical environment with different technologies (Wintel, Unix, Linux, Oracle, Sybase ) - approx 2500 backups everyday, delivering for multiple clients in banking, insurance, or industry sectors, all driven by ITIL rules.
  • Main Backup infrastructure is based on EMC Avamar's solution on EMC DataDomain, reported by EMC DPA software.
  • Few Specific backups with huge volume are backed-up with a dedicated TSM infrastructure.

Responsibilities
Backup Solutions for Installed-Base Customers:
  • Evaluate customer needs based on application requirements, current capacity, and growth trends.
  • Deliver engineering specifications and assist with functional specifications for projects.
  • Collaborate on technical designs and specifications.
  • Estimate effort for development and product delivery timelines.
  • Provide technical leadership for backup needs to meet contractual business requirements.
  • Work closely with external vendors to optimize solutions.
  • Assess technical impact and risks.
  • Independently resolve complex problems.
  • Analyze Hardware and software issues related to backup technologies (e.g., Avamar, Data Domain, TSM).
  • Design, test, document, and implement backup solutions.
  • Maintain technical awareness and procedures.
  • Strong background in enterprise data protection.
  • Experience resolving complex issues.
  • Organizational skills for a technical lead role.
  • Manage multi-PB multi-tiered environments.
  • Report on performance and capacities.
  • Assist in capacity planning and disaster recovery exercises.

  • Avamar Platform: Expert-level knowledge.
  • TSM Platform: General knowledge.
  • EMC DPA Reporting Tool: Deep knowledge.
  • Multi-Technologies Environment: Experience with Wintel, Unix, Linux, Oracle, and Sybase.
  • Multi-Client on Huge Infrastructure: Mandatory experience.
  • ITIL Processed Environment: Work in such an environment.
  • Communication Skills: As a technical leader, good communication skills are essential.
  • On-Call Rotation: Provide 24-hour support for production operational issues after business hours
