HEAD OF FINANCE (M/F)


Our Client is an independent investment firm and manages a range of mature and recently launched investment funds focussing on private equity investments in small and medium sized companies as well as an investment mandate to manage a multi-asset portfolio on behalf of it's main sponsor.

They are currently seeking to recruit a Director of Finance/ Head of Finance to join its finance team which will report directly to the CFO (with longer term progression track to CFO).

The role will primarily focus on the Family Office investment mandate, managing the mandate's treasury requirements as well as oversight of the wider back office team covering all current and legacy Funds across the UK and Luxembourg.


THE JOB:

  • Proactively drive improvement in efficiency and quality of finance operations/ processes and reporting of the investment mandate and other company funds.
  • Ensuring appropriate accounting recognition for corporate actions and investment restructurings.
  • Develop firmwide proactive treasury function/ capabilities.
  • Manage audit processes across Funds.
  • Directorship of intermediate holding companies throughout structures.
  • Management of back office team, deputising for CFO where necessary.
  • Lead contact and management of third party suppliers such as administrators, depositaries, auditors and tax advisors.
  • Oversight of Luxembourg finance function (regular travel to Luxembourg).
Permanent Capital Vehicle

  • Review of accounting/ bookkeeping for the multiasset investment vehicle.
  • Review of Monthly/ quarterly reconciliations and reporting.
  • Management of Limited Partnership Agreement (LPA), including carry mechanism, management fee and investor distribution clauses.
  • Manage process for forecasting and NAV simulation based on forecast cash flows, target portfolio allocations and existing commitments.
  • Ad hoc financial modelling to aid the firm's investment decisions and portfolio management.
  • Liaising with audit and tax teams on queries.
  • Ad hoc research and analysis projects as requested by investment team/ CFO.
  • Producing materials for Investment Committee and Quaterly Investor Meetings.
  • Managing the reporting and management calendar for the investment vehicle.
  • Taking minutes of Investment Committee (IC).
  • Presenting financial results at IC/ Investor meeting as necessary.
Treasury

  • Manage banking relationships.
  • Develop specific proactive treasury function/ capabilities.
  • Cash forecasting for 012 months and up to 5 years.
  • Putting in place loan/ working cap facility and monitoring.
  • Manage cash levels across banks/ currency exposure.
  • Manage FX spots, FX forwards/ other derivatives.
  • Manage treasury products/ interest/ deposit accounts.
Liquid - Public Markets Portfolio

  • Managing the subscription of direct subscriptions to Infra funds or Hedge Funds not available through custodians.
  • Review the tax impact of various vehicles or liaise with tax advisor for review.
  • Monitoring liquidity of Satellite portfolio in collaboration with Hedge Fund advisor and portfolio management system.
  • Providing data to Portfolio Manager and Third Party Advisor on performance of Satellite portfolio.
  • Filtering investment proposals from banks and presenting to Investment team.
  • Portfolio analysis and reporting as required.
Private Capital Funds - Third Party Managed

  • Supporting portfolio manager in reviewing third party fund valuations.
  • Portfolio analysis and reporting as required.
Private Equity - Managed internally

  • Oversight of valuation process for PES II, SICAR, DIP.
  • Structuring for new investment/ coinvestment vehicles and managing equalizations.
  • Member of Valuation Committees for Managed funds.
  • Oversight of quarterly reporting produced by Luxembourg controllers.
  • Supervising reporting & accounting, as necessary, on other managed renewable energy & private equity funds run by administrators.
  • Coinvestment scheme
  • Managing the administration of executive coinvest scheme.
Tax

  • Overseeing tax return process and providing tax information for Permanent Capital Vehicle, and other remaining UK funds to tax advisors.
  • Review of upcoming third party managed fund subscriptions for Tax implications to Permanent Capital Vehicle.
  • Assist with repatriation of funds across tax structures for existing funds.
Client Liaison

  • Liaising with Permanent Capital Vehicle Limited Partner and managing relationship with key finance contact.
  • Assisting with LP queries on other Managed funds where necessary.

THE CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Strong academics
  • Qualified accountant ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent, 6+ postqualification experience
  • Technically capable from accounting and reporting perspective under IFRS
