The context
Our client is a privately held company in Luxembourg, a long-established leader in its market. Its technology has been developed in-house over decades and is treated as a strategic asset, under one guiding principle: full control over the systems the business runs on.
The architect who built this ecosystem is preparing his succession. This is a planned, structured handover: the incoming Software Architect will work directly with him, receive in-depth knowledge of the architecture, the data and the reasoning behind it, and progressively assume the role of technical authority for the company.
The timing is significant. The company has decided to renew its technology stack and rebuild a substantial part of its application landscape. The new architect will take part in selecting the future technologies rather than inheriting decisions already made.
The role
Initial phase focused on understanding the business: analysis of the databases, data flows and business objects, and how the application modules are organized. Development work comes second during this period.
Design of the target architecture: application interaction, data models, modularization and distribution of computation loads.
Active participation in the technology selection process for the stack renewal.
Technical governance: standards, conventions, architectural reviews and decision-making in support of the development teams.
Close collaboration with business and management: priorities are defined directly with company leadership.
The profile
Strong computer science fundamentals: software architecture, data modeling, modular design, distributed systems. We are looking for breadth and depth of understanding rather than specialization in a single technology.
10+ years of experience designing, developing and deploying large-scale enterprise systems.
Experience in environments with physical product flows (logistics, operations, sales, invoicing) is a strong advantage.
A pragmatic approach to technology: robustness and business fit over trends.
Fluent French is mandatory. Professional English.
Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
100% on-site position.
