The ideal candidate will be responsible for timely and accurate preparation of financial accounting data in a variety of areas. It is essential that this candidate brings analytical and organizational skills in order to best support the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Management:
- Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions
- Record journal entries to close books on a monthly basis
- Reconcile assigned accounts on a monthly basis
- Record invoices, obtain approval, and generate payments
- Manage supplier tax documentation, including VAT IDs (USt-IdNr.) and other required tax information, support contractor income tracking, and ensure VAT compliance where applicable
- Organize and maintain vendor records
- Coordinate with auditors for interim and annual audits
- Provide necessary documentation and support during audits
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and applicable accounting standards (HGB/German GAAP)
- Other Areas:
- Ad hoc projects
- Crosstrain and back up other team members when necessary
- Fluent German (written and spoken)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in financial accounting or a similar accounting role
- Understanding of HGB (German GAAP) accounting principles and processes
- Familiarity with Hubspot, Ramp, and similar tools
- Multitasking, analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
