Your role
As a professor in the Department of Computer Science, you will:
- Lead research in your area of expertise, with a focus on machine learning and foundation models, and have the opportunity to establish and grow your own research group within a collaborative environment
- Collaborate actively with colleagues across the department, the university, and national research institutions, benefiting from Luxembourg’s dynamic and well-funded research ecosystem
- Contribute to teaching at all levels - e.g.: Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral -, designing and delivering courses in your field of expertise
- Supervise and mentor PhD and postdoctoral researchers, and support their development through seminars and related activities
- Participate in shaping the department’s research and educational agenda
Your profile
The Faculty of Science, Technology, and Medicine (FSTM) seeks a candidate with:
- A PhD degree in Computer Science or a closely related field
- A research track record in Artificial Intelligence, with an emphasis on machine learning and an openness to interdisciplinary collaboration — both within academia and with industry partners
- Expertise in one or more core areas of machine learning and foundation models, such as deep learning, representation learning, probabilistic modeling, reinforcement learning, optimization for learning, trustworthy and efficient machine learning, or foundation models including large language and multimodal models. We particularly value depth of knowledge, originality, and the potential for cross-disciplinary innovation
- Publications in top-tier computer conferences and journals related to AI and machine learning, including but not limited to NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, JMLR, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, IJCV, TPAMI, ACL, EMNLP, KDD, AAAI, IJCAI, ECAI, COLT, UAI, AAMAS, AISTATS, TACL, SIGIR, WSDM, Web Conference
- Experience in teaching Computer Science topics at undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate levels and willingness to contribute to the department's teaching and administrative missions
