Senior GL Accountant (In house) - Family Office


About the Role

Operating in a multi-entity, international environment, the Senior GL Accountant will take ownership of general ledger processes and play a key role in the monthly close cycle, statutory reporting, and audit preparation. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, a structured and reliable approach to their work, and a discreet and professional mindset suited to a private investment organization.


Responsibilities


General Ledger & Closing Activities

  • Maintain the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger for multiple legal entities across various jurisdictions.
  • Prepare and post complex journal entries, including accruals, intercompany eliminations, and investment-related adjustments.
  • Take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Reconcile key balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies in a timely manner.


Accounting & Reporting

  • Support the preparation of internal and external financial reports, including management reports and year-end statutory accounts.
  • Collaborate closely with the finance team to support consolidated group reporting and audit preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Liaise with external service providers, auditors, and tax advisors.


Process Improvement & Controls

  • Continuously identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, controls, and documentation.
  • Support the implementation or enhancement of financial systems, including automation of routine tasks.


Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with investment, tax, legal, and treasury teams to ensure the accounting accurately reflects business activities.
  • Provide accounting input on new transactions, restructurings, and other business initiatives.
  • Assist in ad hoc financial analysis or projects as required by the Head of Accounting or CFO.


Qualifications

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in accounting roles in Trust or in house (ideally with a first experience in house already)
  • Prior experience with financial services or private equity structures is advantageous.


Required Skills

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail.
  • Organised, reliable, and capable of managing multiple deadlines.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English (French or German is a plus).
  • High degree of discretion and professional integrity.
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and comfortable in a dynamic, hands-on environment.
