Role Description The Postdoctoral Researcher in Robotic Manipulation will conduct independent and collaborative research on advanced manipulation techniques, including planning, control, perception, and interaction with complex environments and objects. Day-to-day activities include designing and implementing robotic experiments, developing algorithms and software prototypes, performing quantitative evaluations and data analysis, and contributing to publications in high-impact journals and conferences. The role involves mentoring junior researchers and doctoral candidates, supporting grant proposals, and collaborating with internal and external partners in robotics and related disciplines. The position may include limited teaching or support for laboratory-based courses and demonstrations related to robotics and automation. This is a full-time on-site role located in Walferdange.
Qualifications
• Strong research skills in robotics, robotic manipulation, and related areas, including experimental design and scientific reporting.
• Solid physics background relevant to dynamics, kinematics, control, and perception in robotic systems.
• Proficiency in laboratory skills such as setting up robotic platforms, sensors, and experimental testbeds, ensuring safety and reliability.
• Competence in data analysis, including statistical methods, algorithm evaluation, and use of tools such as Python, MATLAB, or similar environments.
• Experience or interest in teaching and supervision, including mentoring students and supporting coursework or project-based learning.
• PhD in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a closely related field (or close to completion).
• Strong programming skills (e.g., C++, Python) and familiarity with common robotics frameworks (e.g., ROS, Gazebo, or similar simulation tools).
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English; knowledge of French or German is an asset.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an international, interdisciplinary team and to manage projects and deadlines independently.
• A record of publications in relevant robotics or automation venues and interest in securing external research funding
