Senior NetBox & Network Automation Consultant
Location:
Luxembourg – Hybrid, 1 to 2 days per week on-site Language: English Start date: October 2026 Initial duration: Until June 2027 (extendable) Client environment: European institution We are looking for a Senior NetBox & Network Automation Consultant to support a European institution in the implementation of a centralized Single Source of Truth for its network infrastructure. The consultant will contribute to the transition from device-by-device network management to a structured, secure and automated approach based on the intended state of the infrastructure. The assignment Over time, complex network environments can develop inconsistent configurations, undocumented changes and limited visibility across infrastructure components. The objective of this assignment is to implement NetBox as the authoritative platform for network inventory, configuration governance and automation.
Key responsibilities
Design and implement NetBox as the authoritative Single Source of Truth for the network infrastructure. Create and maintain a comprehensive inventory of network devices, interfaces, IP addresses, VLANs, VRFs, circuits, racks, sites and cabling. Define network data models, naming conventions, configuration policies and governance standards. Document the intended state of the network and translate approved policies into configuration templates. Integrate NetBox with existing automation, monitoring and operational platforms. Develop automated configuration-generation and validation processes. Implement mechanisms to continuously compare the intended network state with the operational environment. Detect configuration drift and identify unauthorized or inconsistent changes. Implement automated remediation for approved deviations. Design controlled manual remediation workflows for higher-risk changes. Contribute to Infrastructure-as-Code and DevSecOps initiatives. Improve the traceability and auditability of network configuration changes. Ensure that the proposed solution meets functional, cybersecurity, scalability, integration, open-source and sovereignty requirements. Collaborate with network engineers, cybersecurity specialists, infrastructure teams and institutional stakeholders. Produce technical documentation and support knowledge transfer to internal teams. Expected deliverables Solution selection and feasibility study. Cybersecurity posture assessment. Integration capability assessment. Scalability assessment. Technical and architectural recommendations. Proposed implementation plan. NetBox configuration and integration documentation. Network configuration-drift detection and remediation model. Required experience and skills Proven professional experience implementing and managing NetBox in a complex production environment. Strong background in network engineering, network operations or network automation. Solid knowledge of DCIM and IPAM principles. Strong understanding of network devices, interfaces, IP addressing, VLANs, VRFs, circuits, racks, sites and cabling. Experience developing integrations through REST APIs. Strong scripting and automation skills, particularly with Python. Experience with Ansible, Git, YAML, Jinja2 or comparable automation technologies. Experience with configuration management, intended-state management and configuration-drift detection. Good understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code and DevSecOps practices. Knowledge of secure configuration management, change control and network governance. Ability to work autonomously and deliver clear technical recommendations. Previous professional experience within a European institution, EU agency or similar international public-sector organization is required. Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
