Context The role is based in the Luxembourg technology hub of an international group in the financial sector. The hub is part of a network of software development centres across Europe. Teams work in product-oriented Agile squads. AI-assisted development tools are part of everyday practice. The role therefore calls for sound engineering judgment above all: knowing whether code is correct, secure and ready to ship. Responsibilities
• Own the delivery of product value end-to-end, from the first line of code to the moment users benefit from it
• Solve problems rather than implement specifications: assess feasibility, choose the right approach, identify risks
• Ensure quality from the first line of code, with a testing discipline that allows the squad to ship with confidence
• Design and consume APIs and systems built to last: clear contracts, well-designed interfaces, observable and resilient by default
• Use AI-assisted tooling as a natural part of the workflow, increasing output without lowering standards Candidate profile Education and experience
• Degree in software engineering or a related field
• Relevant professional experience at Senior or Lead level Required technical skills
• Strong command of Java and its ecosystem, with the breadth to work across application layers
• Solid experience in object-oriented development and test automation
• Industrialised development practices: Git, CI/CD pipelines, Maven, containerised (Docker-based) deployment, code review
• Working knowledge of cloud-native patterns (containers, distributed systems, serverless) and their trade-offs Experience with several of the following
• Spring, Hibernate/JPA
• JavaScript and a modern frontend framework (Angular or React)
• SQL or NoSQL Soft skills
• Technical curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning
• Agile mindset: collaboration, knowledge sharing, supporting colleagues
• Well-rounded personality with a good sense of humour Languages
• Fluent English, written and spoken (required)
• French: a strong asset Location and conditions

Location:
Belval (Esch-sur-Alzette), Luxembourg
• Fully on site, no remote work
• Occasional travel to other European sites
• Contract type: consulting assignment, full-time
• Start date: as soon as possible
• Valid Luxembourg work permit required
