Role OverviewWe are looking for a motivated Space Systems Engineer to join the Exobiosphere team and contribute to the systems engineering of payloads for space-based drug discovery. You will work within the existing engineering team, supporting requirements engineering, verification, and interface definition across mechanical, electrical, electronics and software domains, as well as COTS subsystem selection and qualification. You will also take part in the assembly, integration and environmental test campaigns (vibration, thermal, thermal-vacuum) for flight and ground hardware. You will collaborate with colleagues, suppliers and subcontractors at the House of BioHealth in Luxembourg to help deliver our Orbital High-Throughput Screener (OHTS) platform. Responsibilities
• Systems engineering of payloads for space systems Requirements engineering and verification System design and interface control (mechanical, electrical, electronics, software) COTS subsystem selection, procurement and qualification
• Support the assessment of safety aspects of space systems
• Carry out functional analysis, design trade-offs and early validation with prototyping approaches
• Support assembly, integration, validation and testing of payloads and flight/ground hardware.
• Plan, execute and report on test campaigns at component, subsystem and system level, including test plans, procedures and environmental testing (e.g. vibration, thermal, thermal-vacuum).
• Support the payload documentation processes
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and other stakeholders. Requirements
• Master’s degree in space systems, mechanical or electrical/electronic engineering, or similar
• 3+ years of experience in systems engineering for space systems or a related field.
• Ability to interpret and apply standards in the design and development process.
• Experienced in mechanical assembly processes
• Hands-on experience with hardware testing, from test planning and set-up to execution, data analysis and reporting.
• Strong skills in preparing and maintaining technical documentation, including engineering reports.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Possess the legal right to work in Luxembourg (visa, residency, or work permit).
• (Advantageous but not required) Good knowledge of the space environment and its effects on payloads
• (Advantageous but not required) Knowledge of space safety and quality standards and procedures (e.g. ECSS).
• (Advantageous but not required) Experience with payloads full development cycle (from requirements engineering to campaign testing)
• (Advantageous but not required) Multidisciplinary experience as a mechanical, electronics or software engineer.
• (Preferred) Experience with fluidic systems (e.g. microfluidics, pumps, valves, fluid handling).
• (Advantageous but not required) Experience with robotic systems.
