We are looking for an experienced Full-Stack Software Engineer with domain expertise in mobility and/or energy sectors to join an international environment supporting critical infrastructure platforms used by European institutions and stakeholders. Based in Brussels, you will develop and maintain enterprise-grade applications for mobility, transport, and energy systems. Working within a multicultural environment, you will collaborate with domain experts, architects, technical teams, and stakeholders across the EU to build scalable, secure solutions impacting millions of users across Europe.

What you'll do
• Design and develop full-stack applications using Java and Angular
• Implement RESTful APIs and modern architectural patterns
• Work with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Oracle
• Optimize database performance and manage complex data structures and transactions
• Integrate with transport and energy systems and legacy applications
• Implement security best practices and compliance requirements
• Conduct technical design reviews and lead architectural discussions
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to team excellence and knowledge transfer
• Ensure code quality through rigorous testing and comprehensive code reviews What we're looking for
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (EQF 7); or Bachelor's degree + 12 years IT professional experience; or Secondary education + 17 years IT professional experience
• 10+ years of IT professional experience
• 8+ years of professional Java development
• 8+ years of REST API design and implementation
• 8+ years of Angular or similar modern frontend framework
• 8+ years of JavaScript development
• 8+ years working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar)
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in mobility, transport, or energy sector IT systems
• Strong architectural thinking and system design capabilities
• Proven ability to mentor and lead technical initiatives
• English language proficiency at B2 level or higher Nice to have
• Experience with microservices architecture and domain-driven design
• Knowledge of transport or energy domain standards and protocols (OCPP, IEC, etc.)
• Background with European Commission or EU agency projects
• Professional certifications in Java or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Familiarity with containerization technologies and Kubernetes
• Understanding of sustainability and green energy initiatives
