The Central Underwriting Team (based in Luxembourg and Zurich) is responsible to ensure that our Employee Benefits Business writes profitable business while supporting growth. For this team, we are looking for a commercially minded Pricing/Underwriting Actuary to lead the assessment of new Managing General Agent (MGA) partnerships, perform onboarding, review pricing and ensure ongoing monitoring of new and existing MGAs. (You have the possibility to be implicated in the whole cycle). The role is based in Luxembourg and will be reporting into the Chief Underwriting Officer of Swiss Life Global Solutions. Your Role
• Act jointly with Sales as the primary interface between Swiss Life Luxembourg and MGA partners combining Underwriting rigor with commercial judgement
• Lead the evaluation of prospective MGA partnerships in collaboration with Sales, assess business plans, profitability, underwriting strategies, product offerings, pricing methodologies.
• Challenge pricing assumptions, identify key risks and red flags, and develop recommendations for senior management
• Support Swiss Life Luxembourg with the retention of existing MGAs while ensuring adequate profitability level
• Perform or review pricing on cases that the MGAs have to report to Swiss Life Luxembourg
• Implement with Operations and Reserving proper monitoring and governance frameworks for MGA portfolios, monitor underwriting performance and coordinate remediation actions
• Act as the key liaison between MGA partners and internal stakeholders. You will work closely with teams across Sales, Operations, Reserving, Legal and Product to ensure successful onboarding and ongoing oversight of MGA arrangements. Coordinate with local underwriting committee and with internal and external reinsurance. Support jointly with Operations audits of MGAs and follow-up of SLAs. Maintain close interaction with Reserving to ensure info is available to assess required reserves
• Support pricing and underwriting of Life & Health contracts written through Swiss Life International and review of large and complex offers
Your Profile
• Master’s degree in actuarial sciences; alternatively university degree in mathematics or similar with relevant experience
• Solid experience in underwriting, pricing and evaluating profitability of Life and Health products (be able to work autonomously)
• Proven ability to assess MGA new opportunities, review proposed pricing, define underwriting framework and monitoring MGA deals considered as an advantage
• Knowledge of medical business considered an advantage
• Knowledge of performing audit and a good understanding of operational process
• Business Fluency in English
• Self-driven individual with excellent commercial acumen combined with strong analytical and actuarial capabilities
• Ability to work autonomously and comfortable working across multiple functions. Our Offer
