CMS is a future-facing law firm. With more than 90 offices in over 45 countries and 7,200+ lawyers worldwide, we combine deep local market understanding with a global perspective. Active in Luxembourg since 2011, CMS Luxembourg now counts more than 70 lawyers, recognised genuine experts in their respective fields. The Firm provides comprehensive legal support to local and international clients, both for their Luxembourg transactions and their day-to-day operations.
The role
Our Capital Markets and Securitisation practice is experiencing sustained growth, and we are looking to recruit a Managing Associate (2-4 years PQE) to further strengthen our team in Luxembourg.
You will join a high-performing team advising leading financial institutions, arrangers, issuers, sponsors, investors and other market participants on a broad range of DCM, securitisation and structured finance transactions, acting on both lead and local counsel mandates.
The role offers exposure to EMTN and other debt issuance programmes, standalone note issuances, securitisation structures and structured products involving Luxembourg entities, together with listings on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (Regulated Market and Euro MTF, including LGX) and other EEA venues.
As a Managing Associate, you will take ownership of significant portions of transactions, develop direct client relationships and progressively increase your level of autonomy while working closely with partners and senior lawyers. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to accelerate their development within a leading international practice.
Your responsibilities
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, you will:
• Manage specific workstreams within complex transactions and coordinate day-to-day deal execution;
• Take increasing responsibility for client communications and project management;
• Draft and negotiate transaction documents with an appropriate level of supervision;
• Develop sector and technical expertise across debt capital markets, securitisation and structured finance matters;
• Support the supervision and training of trainees and junior lawyers;
• Contribute actively to know-how initiatives, client alerts and business development projects.
Your profile
• Qualified lawyer with 2 to 4 years of relevant Luxembourg experience in debt capital markets, securitisation, structured finance and/or banking & finance;
• Solid technical grounding in debt capital markets and financing transactions;
• Ability to manage transactions with appropriate supervision and a growing degree of autonomy;
• Exposure to securitisation structures, debt issuance programmes and structured finance transactions;
• Strong analytical and drafting skills;
• Excellent command of English; French and/or German would be considered a strong asset;
• Pragmatic, commercially minded and solution-oriented;
• Team player with a strong willingness to contribute to the continued development of the practice;
• Interest in innovative ways of working, including the use of technology and AI as part of the evolution of legal practice.
What we offer
• The opportunity to join a leading international law firm with a strong reputation in Luxembourg and worldwide
• Early responsibility and direct exposure to high-profile international clients
• A collaborative and entrepreneurial working environment where initiative is encouraged
• A broad range of sophisticated DCM, securitisation, investment funds and structured finance matters across products and industries
• Continuous learning through structured training programmes, mentoring and daily coaching
• Close interaction with experienced partners and senior lawyers
• Frequent opportunities to work on cross-border matters with colleagues across the CMS network
• A supportive environment focused on long-term professional development
• Competitive remuneration and benefits package If you are interested, please send your CV to HR@cms-dblux.com. All applications will be treated with the strictest confidentiality. Please note that, in the event of recruitment, a recent extract from a criminal record (casier judiciaire) will be required.
