Technical solutions professional OSS (Open source)
Purpose:
Accelerate and maximize Azure compute usage by communicating and demonstrate the value of running Linux/Open Source Solutions on Azure with emphasis on helping customers extend and move on-premises Compute-intense workloads to the cloud to reach assigned revenue goals and commitments. The Compute OSS TSP works closely with the HIPO team, their SSP Blackbelt counterparts and will share product and services responsibilities that solve Cloud Extension and Compute solution needs focusing on Microsoft Azure and Azure VMs. Target workloads include: All aspects of running Linux infrastructure on Azure; VM management, disaster recovery, dev/test; based on virtual machines architectures. Additionally, will support Datacenter TSP in key advanced scenarios for specific deals where Linux/OSS is a component and with appropriate knowledge transfer through standardized readiness vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
Accelerate and maximize customer adoption: Participate in sales planning activities and participate in Solution Briefings, where the TSP is resourceful in driving cost-effective ways of moving opportunities forward such as delivering technical sales presentations, Architectural Design Session (ADS), & POCs which will be the biggest part of this delivery Voice of the customer: Capturing the open source customer voice in customer case studies and influencing product strategy by capturing present or future customer needs around open source, open standards, and interoperability Subject matter expert and leadership: Be the go to SME for running Linux VMs on Azure. Understand and be able to demonstrate capabilities. Work closely with OSS Lead to align and prioritize activities and focus. Conduct self-research, learning and readiness to develop strong internal and external community relationships and leadership. Additional tasks include the education and knowledge transfer to local sales teams and other black belt TSPs and in this, changing internal and external perceptions of Microsoft and open source. Holistically deliver customer value: Demonstrate how Linux/OSS is a first class workload in Azure through Technical Presentations, Demonstrations and Architecture sessions
- and as needed execute POC and/or organize Pilots based on an understanding of the customer’s enterprise IT architecture and the competitive landscape including both 1st and 3rd party solutions. Scale through partners: Accelerate the “journey to Azure” for OSS partners by influencing strategy at SI/ISVs by working closely with the OSS Lead, successfully conducting Technical Presentations, business/technical design workshops and engaging the broader MS partner team. Broad collaboration: Select a core set of partners for each customer opportunity, develop successful business relationships with each, and develop their readiness & ability to execute. Experiences Required: Key Experiences, Skills and Knowledge:
- Extensive technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience in Linux/OSS infrastructure related technologies both on-premise and cloud solutions
- Superior presentation skills with strong written and verbal communication skills for a variety of customer roles / level to influencing for impact
- Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills leveraging internal and external resources when needed to drive for results
- Consultative/solutions sales experience and working with and within large, complex teams
- Project management experience is ideal
- You will interact with all levels of management and will be extremely technical with an outgoing personality.
- Excellent note taking and documentation skills – attention to detail is key.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA/Master’s Degree preferred
- Professional Training and Certification preferred on Linux (e.g. Red Hat Certified Professional) and other related open source technology areas.
