The Legal Counsel is reporting to the Head of Legal and is responsible to provide legal support for the Italian market, prepare legal documents, perform legal researches and liaise with all internal functions and when needed with local authorities, external legal advisors and third-party providers. The Legal Counsel is accountable for:
• Performing research and analysis on a broad range of legal matters and to work on a large number and provide advice on a wide array of legal matters that may arise;
• Providing comprehensive solutions to complex problems or needs including negotiating agreements and drafting contracts for services and relationships related to the Company’s insurance and distribution operations;
• Drafting and negotiating business arrangements in support of the marketing and sale of the Company’s insurance products;
• Providing general legal advice on applicable laws and regulations and on all Company policies and guidelines;
• Reading, interpreting and applying to business situations relevant statutes and regulations;
• Handling complaints, legal disputes and liaise with external counsels;
• Analysing changes to regulatory requirements and proactively manage regulatory developments to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
• Undertaking special projects specific to the function of the department or as needed for the department;
• Performing other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.

Your profile
– Have you got what it takes to become our Legal Counsel?
• Master’s degree in Italian Law; at least 5 years of experience in law firms or life insurance companies;
• Ability to work autonomously, as well as in a team with other in-house lawyers and the business colleagues in a multicultural environment;
• Attention to details, flexibility and experienced in working under pressure and to demanding deadlines
• A proven experience with international oriented and demanding commercial, business development and regulatory environments;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders;
• Proactive approach and business acumen;
• Knowledge of Luxembourg legal and regulatory environment is a plus;
• Fluent in English and Italian. Any other European language will be an asset.
