Your role & work environment
The Investment Strategist is part of the Global Investment Center within ISIM in Luxembourg. The role focuses on building and articulating ING’s investment vision from a macro and multi‑asset perspective, ensuring full alignment between global strategy and the Luxembourg platform.
As the local SPOC, the Investment Strategist works closely with Private Bankers and commercial teams, acting as the key relay for investment insights and ensuring consistent communication of ING’s house view across the market.
ISIM, ING’s “Super ManCo”, manages both UCITS and AIFs and acts as the Group’s central platform for investment fund solutions.
Your
key responsibilities
Drives Vision – Macro & Tactical Asset Allocation
• Conduct macroeconomic and market research to shape ING’s investment vision.
• Analyze internal and external sources, build scenarios, and produce high-quality investment materials.
• Monitor macroeconomic developments and financial markets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Synthesize complex information into actionable investment insights supporting the monthly investment cycle.
• Contribute to ING’s global investment strategy through cross-asset allocation views.
• Translate macroeconomic perspectives into portfolio positioning guidelines.
• Support the performance of centrally managed portfolios and long-term value creation.
• Collaborate closely with the CIO and investment strategists in Brussels and Amsterdam to align local and global investment strategies. Communication & Strategic Alignment
• Act as the local point of contact for communicating ING’s investment vision in Luxembourg.
• Provide regular market updates and investment insights to Private Bankers and commercial teams.
• Prepare and deliver presentations on market developments and investment themes.
• Represent ING’s investment views at client events and group presentations.
• Support selected media interactions by communicating aligned investment messages.
• Ensure consistency and alignment with the Global Investment Center’s investment strategy and messaging. As an Investment Strategist – local SPOC you will also need:
• Master’s degree in Finance, Economics or a related field (CFA charter holder is considered as an asset)
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in financial markets as Portfolio Manager or Investment Strategist, with a proven track record in macro analysis and multi‑asset allocation.
• Excellent command of English and French (written and spoken), speaking Dutch or any other European language is considered as an asset.
• Strong expertise in macroeconomics, market analysis and cross‑asset dynamics, with the ability to identify key trends, risks and structural shifts.
• Proven capacity to translate complex macro and market signals into clear, actionable investment views and coherent portfolio positioning guidelines.
• Excellent analytical and synthesis skills, including scenario analysis and data‑driven decision‑making, delivering concise and high‑impact insights to committees, CIO, PMs and senior stakeholders.
• Proven collaboration skills in a global investment environment, working closely with Strategists across locations (Amsterdam, Brussels) and with the CIO. This includes potential (regular) travels.
• Excellent communication skills to support strategic alignment with commercial teams and act as a local SPOC for the Global Investment Center.
• High degree of autonomy, intellectual curiosity and ability to operate effectively in fast‑moving market environments.
• Excellent presentation skills (orally and powerpoint) for internal and external audiences (including panel discussions with peers) with the capability to present complex matters in (1) an easy way and (2) keep your audience captivated.
• Contribute to strategic projects with your relevant management, including taking ownership on relevant change projects if and when possible.
