The Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) department, made up of 200 life science, environmental science and information technology researchers and engineers, provides the interdisciplinary knowledge, expertise and technologies to lead solutions including the major environmental challenges facing society, such as climate change mitigation, ecosystem resilience, sustainable energy systems, efficient use of renewable resources, and environmental pollution prevention and control.

The department relies on two cutting-edge platforms, the Biotechnologies and Environmental Analytics Platform and the Observatory for the Climate and the Environment, and the GreenTech Innovation Centre (GTIC): a one-stop-shop for the complete development of bio-based products and processes.

**How will you contribute?**:
As the global change and technological developments force water resources management to adapt at breath-taking pace, your ambition is to support policy makers and create socio-economic value, as well as to be a partner in risk-taking and delivery of innovative solutions with short-, mid
- and long-term impact.

With your proven ability to identify, champion and spearhead new technologies, you will make the CAT group thrive and navigate the opportunities and challenges of the climate crisis.

Capitalizing on your own expertise in hydrology (including hydrological processes research and quantitative/qualitative water management), you will leverage the CAT group’s rich blend of know-how in eco-hydrology, forest hydrology, isotope hydrology, water chemistry, sediment transport, plant-atmosphere interactions, and hydrological modelling for developing interdisciplinary and mission-driven water resources research.

Your managerial spirit and experience will give our multicultural team a boost.

You hold a PhD in Hydrology or a related discipline in Critical Zone science, with at least 10 years of relevant experience and you have a proven record of research and operational experience working in a research and innovation (public or private) setting - including securing externally funded grants and contracts.

Additionally you have:

- At least five years of experience in leading successful cross-disciplinary research teams or projects, as evidenced nationally and/or internationally.
- Business acumen skills, with a track record in the acquisition of projects, and proven experience in managing public-private partnerships. And good experience with staff management, including the capacity to recruit, successfully train, and develop researchers.
- Excellent research experience in the field of catchment hydrology with a focus on tracer/isotope hydrology, biogeochemistry, eco-hydrology, forest hydrology, and/or eco-hydrological modelling.
- Demonstrable interest in field and laboratory and experimental research.
- Demonstrable interest and experience with developing applied solutions for river basin management, including environmental engineering.

You have a good command in English. Knowledge of Luxembourgish, French and/or German is an asset
