Company Overview

BEFM manages UCITS and alternative investment funds (AIFs) in a variety of asset classes including private equity, real estate, credit and hedge fund solutions. BEFM is also authorized to manage separately managed accounts (SMAs) with a combination of these asset classes.

Job Responsibilities

We are currently looking to hire an Associate for the BEFM Valuation team (BEFM Valuation), which is primarily responsible for the valuation of investments of the funds under BEFM management.

The role will be a key part of the Luxembourg Finance team, working closely with the other Finance teams globally, he/she will be responsible for the following areas, with an expertise focused on some fund strategies:
Valuation review
- Reviewing the investment committee memo in the context of the first-time valuation
- Reviewing the third-party valuation reports
- Reviewing the internal valuation material
- Lead discussions with Blackstone valuation teams
- Assist in the due diligence of valuation teams
- Produce investment valuation analysis at fund level and presentations to BEFM’s management team
- Assigning and reviewing tasks assigned to the offshore consultants

Financial reporting
- Reconciling investments portfolio with NAV
- Updating Finance database with key indicators at NAV frequency

Governance and reporting to senior management
- Participating to the new fund onboardings in the context of valuation matters
- Proposing improvements of the valuations and NAV processes, enhancement of procedures and processes as well as the use of offshore resources and technology
- Preparing management information for the Management Committee meetings and BEFM & Fund Board Meetings
- Other general administrative tasks.

Qualifications & Skills

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team, are highly motivated, with a sound judgment and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors.
- Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or similar discipline (CFA or CAIA a plus)
- 4-6 years of relevant financial services industry experience (including a prior experience in a Big 4 or similar) with good understanding of a wide range of valuation approaches (e.g. Income, Market)
- Knowledge of the local regulatory requirements in relation to AIFM and Luxembourg vehicles
- Analytical skills, intellectual curiosity and attention to detail
- Highly organized, accountability for delivery
- Proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, ability to suggest new efficient and innovative solutions
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint required. Strong appetite for adopting new technologies and a commitment to driving automation initiatives to streamline processes and improve productivity.
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
- Fluent in English, both written and oral
