Company Overview

BEFM manages UCITS and alternative investment funds (AIFs) in a variety of asset classes including private equity, real estate, credit and hedge fund solutions. BEFM is also authorized to manage separately managed accounts (SMAs) with a combination of these asset classes.

Job Responsibilities

We are currently looking to hire an Analyst for the BEFM Valuation team (BEFM Valuation), which is primarily responsible for the valuation of investments and the review of the NAV of the funds under BEFM management.

The role will be a key part of the International Finance team in Luxembourg and will report to the Luxembourg heads of Valuation team. It is part of a small team and therefore is a hands-on role. Working closely with the other Finance teams globally, he/she will be responsible for the following areas, with an expertise focused on some fund strategies.

Valuation review (30%)
- Reviewing the internal valuation material
- Reviewing the investment committee memo in the context of the first-time valuation
- Reviewing the third-party valuation reports
- Produce investment valuation analysis at fund level and presentations to BEFM’s management team
- Participates to discussions with Blackstone valuation teams
- Execute ad hoc projects and generate monthly and quarterly reporting for management team and Boards
- Assist in the due diligence of valuation teams

Financial reporting (40%)
- Reviewing the NAV and producing a NAV analytical review for management
- Reconciling investments portfolio with NAV
- Review/assess controls around NAV production and investor reporting
- Updating Finance database with key indicators at NAV frequency

Governance and reporting to senior management (30%)
- Participating to the new fund onboardings in the context of valuation and NAV matters
- Proposing improvements of the valuations and NAV processes, enhancement of procedures and processes as well as the use of offshore resources and technology
- Maintain and develop a strong collaboration with other teams
- Manage responsibilities and tasks assigned to the offshore consultants
- BEFM and Global Finance and Asset Management - develop collaboration with the US, APAC and EMEA teams to solve problems, achieve results and develop best practices
- Preparing management information for the Management Committee meetings and BEFM & Fund Board Meetings
- Other general administrative tasks.

Qualifications & Skills

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team, are highly motivated, with a sound judgment and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors.
- Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or similar discipline (CFA or CAIA a plus)
- 1-3 years of relevant financial services industry experience (including a prior experience in a Big 4 as a consultant or an auditor) with good understanding of alternative industry operations.
- Strong technical accounting skills, IFRS knowledge required
- Familiarity with a wide range of valuation approaches (e.g. Income, Market)
- Knowledge of the local regulatory requirements in relation to AIFM (e.g., circ. CSSF 18/698) and Luxembourg Funds (e.g., UCITS, UCI Part II (FCP, SICAV), SCSp, RAIF).
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint required (ability to produce creative, compelling, detailed reporting materials). Strong appetite to use of technology (knowledge about Tableau, Sigma, PowerBI, Python is a plus)
