Management Accountant

Job Description: PURPOSE OF ROLE & EMPLOYING ENTITY DESCRIPTION Rakuten Inc. established Rakuten Europe Sarl as its European regional Headquarters Luxembourg and started building its centralized Headquarter functions in 2013. Rakuten European Headquarters is mainly responsible for harmonizing business operations of its European businesses, building synergies, driving alignment and ensuring that European businesses work as one team. In Luxembourg, we have a great team with people from all over Europe and beyond - 27 countries and growing In the role as Management Accountant you will work closely with the EU Head of Finance, EU Senior Finance Manager, budget owners and key stakeholders on a range of important Management Accounting areas, including annual budgets, rolling forecasts, financial performance analysis, reporting, decision making and projects. You will analyse and communicate business performance, investigate variances to plan and work with key stakeholders to make recommendations for improvements. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES - Production and submission of monthly management accounts, budgets, rolling forecasts & KPl's into the Rakuten consolidation software "BPC". - Co-ordination and production of annual Budgets (5-year plans) & ongoing rolling forecasts using financial modelling. - Review and analyse monthly management accounts and cost centre reports with relevant stakeholders. - Produce KPl's and other analysis in order to understand, communicate and improve business performance. - Review and enforce budgetary cost control management. - Evaluate performance of various operations, business plans, projects, and other investments using ROI, Payback, DCF and other appropriate techniques. - Development & implementation of systems to improve reporting and analysis of business performance. - Maintain & develop databases, datasets and other solutions to support financial, KPI and other important reporting & analysis areas. - Prepare various reports and presentations for business leaders & stakeholders. - Support in communication of business performance, forecasts, trends and strategic issues to stakeholders through insightful and timely reporting, analysis and presentations. - Participate in and/or lead projects to improve the business performance, improve management accounting function and add value. EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE - Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a similar role. - Management Accounting skills and experience - Budgeting, forecasting & strategic planning experience - Analytical skills & experience - Advanced Excel skills and financial modelling experience - Attainment of (or working towards) relevant Accounting qualification. - Awareness of Management Accounting techniques such as ROI, payback, contribution analysis, DCF, standard costing etc. - Ability to interpret and communicate financial data to non-financial managers - Ability to question & challenge issues based on analytical or factual evidence & convince others of appropriate alternatives/actions. - Other Technical skills in the following areas are advantageous: Management Information/ Bi Systems, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, Management A/c Consolidation Tools (e.g. BPC), SAP systems. - Excellent presentation and project management skills. - Excellent English is required, both written and verbal. - High energy, creativity, a strong desire to make improvements and add value. - Organized & methodical, self-disciplined with excellent attention to detail & the ability to work to deadlines.
