Primary Duties and Responsabilities:
- Answers technical support queries and implements fixes for system problems.- Leads global cross-functional teams to proactively address support issues.- Creates and maintains detailed documentation for supported environments. Coordinates with customers to resolve technical support issues.- Design, develop and implement scalable enterprise level solutions following corporate standards. Architect complete and scalable environments to corporate standards while maintaining a cost effective solution.- Participate in global architecture reviews of existing environments and recommend cost affective upgrades.- Participate in and support capacity planning and development of long-term strategic goals for enterprise storage/servers in conjunction with data owners and department managers.-
- System Backup and Recovery and creation of Disaster Recovery plans.- On-call pager rotation, weekend and off-hours support- Resolution of customer reported issues and trouble tickets- Monitoring of hardware and software status and performance- Performance tuning of servers and environment- Automation of routine maintenance and monitoring activities- Coordination with 1st-level and 3rd-level support to resolve problems- Coordination with customers and 3rd-party vendors to resolve problems- Performance monitoring & tuning - CPU, Memory, Disk- Hardware/software error analysis- Establish appropriate end-user access control levels for stored data.- Perform tasks necessary to fulfill service level agreements with end-users regarding storage allocations, limitations, security, and availability and Unix server builds and upgrades.- Perform and test backups and restores to ensure that enterprise data is effectively protected.- Follow change control, incident response, and testing processes for modifications to storage appliances and software.- Anticipate, mitigate, identify, respond to, and resolve issues with storage devices, storage access, and data retrieval.- Remain informed on storage emerging technologies and best practices; advise, counsel, and educate management teams on their relative importance.- Perform Unix server, storage server/database transaction and security audits leading to identification and mitigation of security threats to enterprise data. Recommend and implement changes where necessary.- Production and maintenance of detailed technical and business documentation- Sizing and configuration of hardware- Become a SME in one or more areas of wireless telecommunications standards and network implementations. Leverage that industry knowledge in identifying solutions to company product and overall telecommunication industry problems.- Work with systems and database administrators to implement Unix servers and storage architectures that utilize industry best practices- Research and recommend new technology, processes to help increase overall efficiencies.- Monitor, analyze, and predict trends for storage equipment performance, space allocation, and data growth to recommend enhancements to the IT storage team.- Research and make recommendations on server hardware, storage products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.- OS and Patch installation- Software installation and configuration- Storage Area Network and file system configuration- Install and configure devices and corresponding software.- Project Management/Operational Processes- Work with Product Managers and Business Development personnel on new initiatives leveraging telecommunications expertise.- Implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of storage appliances and stored data assets.- Communicate and enforce, through system procedures, data storage retention policies.- Create required reports in response to business user needs.- Develop, document, and maintain operational processes and tasks.

Job Requirements:
Technical Requirements- 15+ years relevant professional experience in the areas of server support, technical customer support, problem management.- 15+ years UNIX System Administration experience (Solaris and AIX preferred). Linus is a plus.- 15+ years scripting experience in a UNIX environment: shell, sed, awk, perl, etc.- Excellent troubleshooting and error analysis skills- Full working knowled
