Aifm Valuation Officer

Responsible for supporting the establishment and operation of the Aztec AIFM business in Luxembourg. Partnering with our internal team, external valuation experts and clients, the role is responsible for supporting the design and implementation of the valuation framework and operations.

From the outset, the individual will partner closely with colleagues, our external consultants and engage with the CSSF to develop out Aztec AIFM Valuation services and operations.

This is a very exciting opportunity to lead and shape a new service offering that is strategically important to Aztec and our clients. The individual will be excited about starting with a blank page to build a market leading AIFM business that is high quality, scalable and dynamic.

You will be a key member of the AIFM management team who collaborate together to achieve strategic outcomes for our people and clients.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Understand the AIFM's valuation policies and operations and how they are applied to each Fund
- Overseeing and supporting the valuation of a wide range of private equity, real estate, infrastructure and fund of funds assets
- Engaging with third party valuers and clients to prepare and review periodic valuations
- Present the results of your analysis in a clear and concise manner to support the NAV review
- Identify unexpected differences and coordinate with client and valuers to close gaps
- Where unresolved issues occur the Valuation Officer must escalate them to ensure appropriate action is taken
- Act as first point of contact for all valuation topics
- Keep abreast of latest trends / regulations / methods on valuation and provide valuation advice on new products and services
- Liaise with fund managers, clients, auditors, valuers and other key stakeholders
- Work closely with other team members across the wider group to strengthen cross jurisdictional relationships with colleagues and mutual clients
- Act as a mentor to junior colleagues and supervise and assist in the training and development of staff. Motivate, nurture and develop engaged employees
- Actively manage the appraisal process for all direct reports
- Attend and participate at internal management meetings
- Other ad-hoc analysis and tasks to assist the operations and growth of the business and ensure smooth running of daily activities
- Contribute towards the business-as-a-whole

**Skills, knowledge, expertise**:

- Appropriate practical valuation experience supported by a relevant professional qualification
- Sound technical financial services knowledge (to be supported through the Aztec Academy)
- Knowledge of private market industry valuation standards (e.g. INREV or IPEV), models and methodologies
- An understanding of Luxembourg fund regulations, in particular AIFMD
- Experience in a similar role or role with transferrable skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required to develop close working relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders
- Solution-orientated and high level of integrity and dependability
- Effective communicator in both written and oral communication formats
- Experience and track record of day to day management and supervision of a team
- An understanding of private equity, real estate, infrastructure and fund of fund asset classes an advantage but not essential
