Metallic Structure Expert

ArcelorMittal Long Products Luxembourg is looking for a Metallic Structure Expert.
Within the Central Maintenance department, you will be part of the team of Experts in Lifting Equipment.
**She/he will**:
- **Review and Oversight**:
- Develop a methodology to prioritize and select the most critical metallic structures to work on.
- Understand, challenge, and correct (if necessary) fatigue calculations performed by subcontractor experts.
- Ensure subcontractor calculations comply with relevant standards, including the Eurocode.
- **Field Work and Inspections**:
- On field verification of theoretical findings in heavy industry steelmaking environment.
- Accompany inspection teams to explain how inspections of the structures should be conducted.
- Provide hands-on guidance in a heavy industry environment, ensuring practical implementation of fatigue analysis results.
- **Material Characterization**:
- Understand material testing results to obtain fatigue properties of metals and alloys.
- Analyze microstructural features that influence fatigue behavior.
- **Failure Analysis & Repairs**:
- Investigate fatigue failures in metallic components to determine root causes.
- Provide recommendations for repairs, design modifications and material selection to mitigate fatigue issues.
- **Design and Optimization**:
- Collaborate with design engineers to incorporate fatigue-resistant features into new elements.
- Optimize existing designs to improve fatigue performance and extend service life.
- **Standards and Compliance**:
- Ensure that all fatigue analyses comply with relevant industry standards and regulations, with a strong emphasis on the Eurocode.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of metallic structure repairs according to EN1090.
- Stay current with advancements in fatigue analysis methodologies and incorporate best practices.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:
- Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation of fatigue analysis results.
- Present findings to stakeholders, including engineers, managers, and clients.
**Must haves**:
- **Educational Background**:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (PhD preferred).
- **Experience**:
- Proven track record of successful fatigue life predictions and failure analyses.
- Strong knowledge of metallic structure repairs according to EN1090.
- **Technical Skills**:
- Proficiency in finite element analysis (FEA) software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN).
- Strong understanding of material science and fatigue mechanisms.
- Experience with experimental techniques for fatigue testing (e.g., strain gauging, crack growth monitoring).
- **Analytical Skills**:
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret complex data and develop accurate models.
- **Field Work and Communication Skills**:
- Willingness to engage in hands-on fieldwork in a heavy industry environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to convey technical concepts to non-specialists.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Professional certification or licensure (e.g., Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer).
- Publications or patents related to fatigue analysis or material science.
- Experience in a specific industry (e.g., aerospace, automotive, civil engineering) where metallic fatigue is a critical concern.
**Other Competencies**
- Ability to work at height is mandatory.

- Dynamism / ability to lead a team
- Fluent French required. Professional level of English.
