**Research Associate (Postdoc) in disability research (f/m)**

**LISER** invites highly qualified and motivated applicants for the position of Research Associate (postdoc) in the framework of a multi-annual collaboration between LISER and the **Luxembourg Ministry of Family and Integration** (MIFA).

LISER is looking for a Research Associate who will play a key role in developing high quality, policy-relevant work in the area of disability research, in collaboration with stakeholders and international academic partners. The initial priority project will be to lay the ground for developing a system of personal assistance (incl. personal budgets) for people with disabilities in Luxembourg, drawing on the international evidence as well as the evidence produced in the research process. The work will comprise a strong component of quantitative analysis (e.g. assessing the economic conditions of people with disabilities, the assessment of the resources needed by people with disabilities, etc.), research synthesis (e.g. on lessons learnt from experience with personal assistance in other countries) as well as some qualitative work (e.g. structured interviews and working groups with stakeholders, people with disabilities and their families).

**Your Role**

In collaboration with the Head of the **Research Programme on Health and Health Systems** (Professor Marc Suhrcke), Professor Germain Weber (Professor of Psychology of Intellectual Disabilities, University of Vienna), as well as other LISER researchers, the Research Associate will be asked to:

- contribute to the overall study and development of a scale to assess the individual needs and intensity of support, and related costs in a population of people with disabilities, and related costs,
- review and critique relevant literature on the approaches and assessment of the individual needs and intensity of support,
- write or contribute to scientific publications and reports,
- disseminate research findings, including public engagement to non-research specialist organisations using appropriate media,
- make presentations at conferences or exhibit work in other appropriate events,
- help shape the current and future research programme in LISER in the field of disability research, by identifying opportunities for new research, and
- contribute to the preparation and writing of grant proposals.

**Your Profile**


- **PhD in psychology or related discipline** (with **quantitative focus**),
- Experience and strong interest in inter-disciplinary research,
- Experience in research on and with people with disabilities would be highly desirable,
- **Strong quantitative, statistical skills, **
- **Strong competencies in psychometrics**
- Experience in developing instruments based on Classical Test Theory (CTT) and Item Response Theory (IRT)
- Willingness to acquire new quantitative skills as needed,
- Knowledge of relevant statistical software (e.g. Stata, R, SPSS),
- Willingness to acquire relevant knowledge in qualitative methods and to collaborate with researchers with qualitative focus,
- Fluency in English (speaking and writing),
- Fluency in either, French, German or Luxembourgish would be considered as an asset.
